EVENT: It's Time to Talk (Day 2, LM, Storage)

Situation: The intruder captured last night has finally woken up. A pale teen with the wiry and awkward build of a young man in the midst of puberty, his pale skin is marked by a farmer's tan, while his green eyes and curly black hair show the signs of a rough night, leaving him bleary eyed and messy-haired. Storage compartment N-2 has been turned into an impromptu brig, guarded by a rather zealous member of the Yokai Matsuri. Now that the teen is awake, Yuri has requested someone have a word with the kid, good cop and bad cop style, to see what they can find out while Yuri follows other leads.
Participants: 2 - One Good Cop, one Bad Cop.
Rules:
This event is simple. Each Cop can attempt one of their relevant types of roll against a series of TNs. The pair may choose which cop will start the interrogation, and can each pass the lead two times, after which point the remaining cop must finish the rolls. The good cop rolls Negotiation/Awareness, and the bad cop rolls Interrogation/Willpower. Each time the cops switch, they gain a free raise on the next roll as the shifting tactics keep the boy off guard. The Teen starts at noncompliance, and each successful roll increases compliance by one step, so no compliance -> partial -> full, and each failure lowers it by one. If a roll includes successful raises, the next roll gets 1 free raise for every two successfully called raises, but a failed roll with raises will decrease compliance back to zero.
Target Numbers:
20

40
Results:
Total Compliance: The pair get a solid lead, providing information about [REDACTED] and the [REDACTED].
Partial Compliance: The pair get some admissions, providing information about the [REDACTED].
No Compliance: The teen doesn't comply at all, leading Yuri to contemplate harsher methods of getting what he needs.

Bruun tries to blend his usual level of abrasiveness with a tone of conciliation that almost,
almost keeps the teen in a super compliant mood. Clearly it wasn't his words or style, but that bite of waffle that he just couldn't resist taking from the kid's plate.

Colette pouted at Brunn. Then she looked at the teen and smiled. "My friend and I just want to know why you came into ze camp when zings are a tiny bit on edge... not all here are going to shoot you. We can be friends if you just help us." Her sweet voice tried to calm the kid.

Bruun was getting impatient. Maybe he was offended that the kid was responding so much better to Colette, even though that was the plan. Or maybe he was feeling like the waffles were being wasted on an ungrateful teenager. Whatever the reason, he
almost snapped at the kid.
"You little--" he started to growl, but he caught a disappointed glare from Colette and stopped cold.
"Um. Sorry. Let me, uh, try again..." And it's hard to say if anything Bruun said after that mattered, or if it was just the signal that, "Yes, you really want to work with Miss Colette" that
the kid responded to, but he was clearly more compliant now, as Team Cop tried to get the last info they could out of him.

Colette nodded and smiled. "Just help us out and you will be unharmed even well fed and perhaps we can even let you join our crew." Colette nodded "Just cooperate pretty please wiz cream and sprinkles on top and let's toss in a cherry." Colette giggled.

"I... I didn't mean to do anything, I swear!"
These didn't seem like bad people, he couldn't get used to the comparison, but at least this woman didn't seem dangerous, and wouldn't hurt him.
Result: Total Compliance: The pair get a solid lead, providing information about [The Gate] and the [Slate Eaters].
"Listen, I didn't want to sneak in but they made me do it. I didn't think they were going to be so bad when I ran away but they were worse! I didn't want to do any of it! They didn't tell me the truth!"
He seemed eager to talk now, trying to get it all out at once.
"The Slate Eaters promised I'd go to new worlds and meet pretty women and be rich - I thought it had to be better than a farm life like my Dad but I was wrong... I didn't want to help them keep slaves or run their errands and they hit me... I didn't know they'd be like that."
Yuri stepped into the room, and just said, simply, "Ok kid, calm down. Who are they, and where are they from?"
With a gulp, the teen added, "They're from Tartarus - straight from hell. They call themselves the Slate Eaters and work for some king on another planet, they claim. A ship comes every few months to take away what the mines dig up. They keep a bunch of slaves there to run the mines... and they have mechs and tanks. At first they seemed ok, but after some of us joined up they started being... horrible. They started hurting farmers and treating us like trash. They've set up a base right at the far end of the Gate, past the mech graveyard and the switchbacks."

"Alright, kid, you're doing the right thing. Slaves and other terrible things? You don't want any part of that..." Bruun is relieved to have not screwed up Colette's good work with the kid. The bringer of griddled or baked goodies is always right.
"How many mechs and tanks do they have? Did you ever see then or just hear about them?"

"I don't know for sure... I think like... two gangs of mechs and two gangs of vehicles? Eight or nine of each."
Rubbing his neck, he added, "The ship always has more, but they rotate in and out. I think there are more off world."

"Good, ok, that's helpful. You know Miss Colette appreciates people who are helpful." Bruun scratches at his beard, seeming relaxed to the kid.
"And are there a lot of slaves? Or is the mine not that big?"
