Human Edge

Dr. Reinhardt makes it to an early breakfast, with a small typed report ready under his arm. He waits to intercept the ships commanding officer when he comes in for his morning coffee.

Eventually a man arrived, looking like he hadn't slept at all.

Because he hadn't.

Still dressed in his long khaki greatcoat, Alexei made his way to the coffee machine with hunched shoulders, mug in hand.

The Dr. waves to get the Captains attention and then finds a seat, he lets the man get some coffee in him and waits patiently.

Alexei almost misses Reinhardt's gesture, but eventually does notice, and gives a little nod.

After a minute, he came over and sat, looking as weary as he felt.

"Morning, Doctor."

He slides a written report over, "We did a survey of hold 5 & 6 last night on the south side. lots of old food stuff in there, some of it might not be any good for anything but fertilizer or miss Collette's project. Could be something we can trade to the farmers complaining about crop damage. There is also a door down there, that I don't remember being locked down when we were in orbit, but is locked up tight now. I assume you are aware of it." The written report appears to be on a different subject.

Alexei took the report.

"I see. Yes, the S-5 lower hold has some of my own things - with everything going on, I believed a little security would be appropriate."

A sip of the coffee. "I'm sure you understand."

Glancing down the report, he raised an eyebrow.

"How confident about that are you, anyway?"

The report of course has the details of his analysis of the crash, both the fact that there was no way for it to be an accident, and that the accident should have killed them all, but something inexplicable happened to save them. Full details and measurements backup his assertions. "Quite sure, sir. I went over it several times. " He smiles, "I understand completely, wanted to make sure you locked it not someone else. "

"I appreciate that."

Alexei tapped the pad, thoughtfully, and then added, "Is there anyone in your company that is..."

He seemed to struggle for words, and then said, simply, "Never mind. It's a stupid question. Who else have you told about this?"

"Felicity went to the hold with me, but my earlier survey was just myself, haven't had a chance to chat with anyone else except you yet. "

"Good. This isn't something to be bandied about. Privacy, you might say."

Pushing the report back across the table, he added, softly, "If you get any other information... feel free to bring it to my attention. It is always good to make things... clear."
