Central Deck Locations

The center of the bulky egg-shaped dropship Calico is where most of the human activity resides - holding all the most popular destinations, such as bunks for sleeping, and the mess, where food happens.
Bunks
Officers get their own (cramped) quarters with a single narrow bunk set into the wall over a desk, with a small sink on the wall to freshen up, and a single chair bolted to the deck. Everyone else gets assigned in pairs, by sex, to bunk beds in the main passenger quarters, each passenger room holding a double bunk, a small sink, and a pair of lockers by the door - combined with a general feeling of claustrophobia and inescapable smell of brass polish. The ship interior, despite aged wooden paneling covering many flat surfaces, can't hide the metal skeleton under it all, and the air is often punctuated by footsteps and mechanical thumps from distant pumps.
Storage
The storage bays hold everything the company purchased for the mission, the belongings and reserves of the dropship crew, and, in the dark recesses, crates. Unmarked, undistrubed, they may have been there for decades, but in the dark recesses of the hold, there could be monsters, treasure, or just food that had expired several generations ago.
Mess
The mess is a relatively large room, long and curved, so that it wraps around a central drive shaft, breaking up the extended line of sight and offering some small semblance of privacy on a cramped vessel. The seating is split into booths, each flanked by a hardy fern of some sort which had already outlived those that planted it... or perhaps new ferns had grown within the old, supplanting them without anyone noticing. The chef won't say. Meals are served on wooden trays, with real silverware and what, by taste and smell, appears to be home-cooked food, with styles selected from around the wester rim of the Inner-sphere, ranging from old Terran German to neo-greecian, and including, as all dropship menus do, Taco Tuesday.
Simulators
A cylindrical room which once served some other purpose is stacked up with cramped ivory white pods, each nestled inside a small tangle of hydraulics, wires, heat pipes, and other, less comprehensible tubes and parts. These are the mech simulators, used to provide a traveling mercenary company the change to stay fresh and fit for battle, while also providing a non-violent way to settle disputes, dispel boredom, or just get really sweaty in a cramped space without requiring the help of a friend.
While not officially available for free use, unless booked for a scheduled exercise, these are usually open for use.
