EVENT: Simulation Day: Alpha Team (Day T-1, Afternoon, Sims)

Situation: Yuri Creed has called forth a training day for all the pilots of the company. An opportunity to shake off the rust, and a chance for the man in charge to see what his employees can do. Called to order in the simulation room and stood at attention, Yuri gave a simple briefing and then dismissed each pilot to their pod, already programmed with the parameters of their mechs.

The mission was simple, a straightforward force on force exercise - a pair of hostile mechs were holding a small station on the far side of a gorge - they were to be driven off or destroyed. How each participant would be graded was not yet explained.

Paticipants: Dorgan Bruun, Snorri Tycho, Gillian Chow, Maja Eklund

Rules: The battle will be fought as a mech vs mech combat using the standard mech vs mech rules. Weather is clear and there are no additional modifiers.

Results: In order to win the battle, the team must defeat the target mechs within ten combat rounds.

Victory: The team show good skill, and shake off the rust admirably. All members of the Fortunate Ones will receive 1 additional exp during the next exp allotment.

Defeat: The force has shown they are still rusty, or perhaps inexperienced. In either case, the team all lose .2 fame, and all members of the Fortunate Ones are ordered to perform additional training, providing 1 additional exp during the next exp allotment, and causing fatigue penalties in the first in game day for all members of the Fortunate Ones.

Pilots should post up an entrance into their pod, once everyone is present, the simulation will begin.

Maja turned up mostly on time, a little self-conscious in her pilot wear.
Maybe looking terrible as a unit was supposed to breed comraderie.

Still, she listened to the briefing with a serious expression before climbing into the simulator pod, quietly impressed as always at what a good job it did of recreating her own mech's conditions.

Bruun acts cool during the short briefing, this soldier-y stuff getting the tiniest bit easier everyday. When dismissed to their pods, Bruun slips into his with no hesitation, ready to get rolling. Once in, he takes a deep breath of stale air, and starts trying to attune himself to the simulator just like he would a new mech.

Snorri gives the tiny girl an appreciate glance. She was cute, hut any chauvinist idea of needing to overly protect her had been long beaten out.

"I'll be seeing you on the other side folks."

It was strange, being in the pod. The interior controls was nothing like his Hussar, but the displays were shockingly close.

"Want me to be the one to kick the hornet's nest?"

“Hi, all,” said a small, slim woman in a cooling vest, tank top and briefs. “I guess we’ll be working together.” Gillian managed a small smile, but tightness in her posture hinted at nervous tension.

Maja grunts once at Gillian, whether in agreement, conformation or just because of a leg cramp is hard to say before her pod closes and she switches over to comms.

"By all means, be the one invited in."

(Simulation Team Alpha has gathered!

Sadly Comstar is not yet set up to run 2 combats in tandem for reasons, so simulation team alpha is cordially invited to the 'observation' thread until the first combat is done - and then this one will kick off!)

Bruun caught the nervous comment before slipping into his simulator and smiled in what he hoped was an encouraging way.

"Good. Best way to get acquainted is in the saddle" he says disappearing into the pod. Once there, he has comms up quickly.

"Bruun's up, y'all," he says with a confident tone. "Snorri, you draw all the fire you want," he laughs as he checks various reads one his screens.

"That means I get part of your cut, right?" Snorri calls back playfully

"I ain't offering you a damn thing until I see what you can do, big man," the older man responds. "Maybe I deserve part of your cut for watching your tin can dance like a rabid monkey."
