James is standing by an active simulator while going over something on his notepad.

Andrea arrived early to the sims, for now she was wearing her walking around clothes. She had intended to look over the pods before the sims later today, to see if any special surprises were in store for the mechwarriors.
Spotting James, she dipped her head in a nod of acknowledgment, "Technician Hall, checking everything out before the big show later?"

When she enters, James gives a salute. The captain had suggested it instead of bowing. As long as the mechwarriors felt respected, he was fine with it.
"Not exactly. Captain Alexi Herald found an aerospace neurohelmet that can fit Mata. So, I got it connected to the simulator right now." Mata's clothes and bag of toys are near James. "I can get her out if you would like to check them."

The monitor displayed a rather incredible crash. It had done so several times already, but for reasons only she knew, Mata persisted.

"No, no." Andrea looked at the monitor and shook her head, "I will have plenty of time in it soon enough. Just wanting to see if they had changed anything major in preparation. Recce of the battlefield if you will."
"Hmm, is she alright in there? It looks disorienting," She watched another flight attempt end with a spiral, "I imagine this would go smoother if there was an experienced pilot to help guide her through the first few flights."

James nods. "But there is none here that I know of. Honestly, she is doing better than I thought considering all I was able to show her was the basics of how to get off the ground. Her mother's blood must run strong in her."
Mata's next trip to the ground has unloading her weapons as she pluments.
"Did she try to destroy the ground she was crashing at?" Is that something he should proud of? He kinda felt like it.

"Well...perhaps the explosions will slow her descent?" Andrea remarked, with little real expectation of that being true. And expectations were met when the crash just had a bigger fireball. "A pity that, not just for her but for us as well. Always good to know its friendlies in the skies and not enemies."
"Perhaps one of the dropship pilots could help? Different style of flight but better then nothing."

James nods. "I used to be primarily an aerospace tech. I know he value of air superiority. Especially helpful when the enemy dropships don't reach the ground."
Watching Mata actually achieve something of a stable flight, James continues, "But I suppose if can't hurt."

Stable flight lasted a moment, and then... no longer.
Clearly flying a nuclear powered flying brick was harder than it looked.
And it didn't look easy.
Perhaps they'd need to ask around.

"They could assist with the basics, I am no aerospace pilot but I imagine flying level is the least of their worries." Andrea smirks, "She at least seems to be tenacious and with a strong stomach. We used to watch the junior pilots in the sims back in my NAIS days. Always one or two pods had to be hosed out after a training session."
