Event: The Sun Never Sets (Day 6, LE)
Posted: Sat Dec 05, 2020 12:42 am
Situation: As the force arrived at the Starport, the Black Dragon mechs were visible, a half circle of seven mechs, spread about the base of the dropship, definitely worse for wear. The setting sun framed everything in harsh contrasts, long shadows cast over the entire scene.
After a long moment of silence, Yuri strode forward, keying his radio, and then giving a simple message.
"Tai-sa Hiroyuki, you are outdone. You have nowhere to run - no world will harbor you, and the Coordinator has closed the gates of his realm to you. There is no future for you or your people." The cold wind buffeted his armless mech, almost comical, if not for the gravity of the situation, as he continued. "You are a warrior - you have lived as one your entire life, and now you wish to die as one. In that, at least, I offer you salvation. We are here, now, to settle this matter as warriors. We are here to give you a warrior's death. Come and face us in open battle, and it will be given to you, on my honor as a warrior who fought alongside the Kanrei in many wars."
There was a protracted silence, and then a reply. "You talk of honor, yet you have one among your ranks, hiding among her fellows, who speaks insults yet will not back them up by her own strength. Have that one stand in your vanguard, where she cannot escape, and you will have your battle - your honor I trust, but not that of your people, lest it is backed up with actions, and not just words."
Yuri scowled, where none could see, and then keyed up his mic. "Detroyes. Get up here, unless you're all talk, as the man seems to think."
Seeing the pair, the black dragons wheeled, marching forward in a line. Finally, after a long time, watching them approach, they stopped. The Battlemaster stiffly bowed, the motion shallow, thanks to the limitations of the mech, but Yuri also mimed the motion, and said, simply, "Weapons free. Shoot to kill people."
Participants: Vanguard Lance, Fire Support Lance.
Rules: This is a combat thread. There is a very real chance of injury, dispossession, or death.
The goal of this combat is the complete destruction or surrender of the enemy - no quarter will be asked or given without express orders from Major Creed. Now is the time to show that the Fortunate Ones can fight to the finish, as well as bleed the enemy. Yesterday was the day for tactics and finesse, and today is the day for raw will and the strength to fight through.
Any character forced to eject will have to attempt to escape on foot, get picked up by a friendly mech, or hide until the battle has moved on in order to escape capture and possible execution.
