Maja, seeing both hostiles tracking toward her, ignited her jump jets and retreated behind the crest of the hill, breaking line of sight with the Dragon. Good for her, bad for Bruun. Still, the ShadowHawk tried to tag Wyvern as it landed, but despite immense sound and fury, with nine missiles, two lasers, and a volley of autocannon shells, as the explosions died down and dust cleared, the Wyvern was completely unscathed.
In return, The wyvern volleyed a single cloud of 10 missiles, but perhaps because of the intense bombardment, or a fluke of the wind, the entire volley scattered away to the left, peppering the woods with bursts of fire and shrapnel. As this happened, the Hussar slipped around the Wyvern, beginning to climb the hill, still letting heat vent away, albeit slowly, thanks to the massive output of the damaged engine shielding, now leaking waves of heat into the mech.
The Cicada, seeing an opportunity, zig-zagged up the hill, taking cover in the trees, ducking a shot from the back mounted laser on the Dragon and then lining up a clean shot of its own. As the targeting reticle crossed the right leg of the ShadowHawk, Gillian squeezed the triggers, and the PPC spat a burst of ionized particles, a crackling roar of lightning that flayed the armor from the limb and partially melted, and then fused, the foot and hip joints of the limb. (hit RL, 10 damage, armor destroyed, critical hit Foot+Upper Leg) A volley of LRMs from the Valkyrie rained around the mech, barely missing as it suddenly keeled over, the leg frozen and the pilot unable to compensate. The impact of the medium mech was concussive, and it didn't rise from the fall. The pilot was out cold. (Failed Piloting roll to remain standing, fall damaged RT+LT, 5+1 damage, Pilot failed roll to avoid injury, pilot injured, pilot failed roll to remain conscious)
As this exchange happened, a separate skirmish unfolded, Bruun having split his fire between ShadowHawk and Dragon with respectable accuracy. The missiles were spoiled by the unexpected success of other attacks, but the laser speared the Grand Dragon and boiled off armor, though the sharply angled limb got off lightly. (glancing hit LA, 2 damage)
In turn, the Dragon noting that the Wyvern had retreated, turned and loosed two medium lasers, one going wide, and the other scoring down the armor on the left leg of the Valkyrie, followed by a blossom of flame from the Grand Dragon's boxy, protruding torso as the LRM 10 spat a volley of missiles which hammered into the Valkyrie like grapeshot. (Hit LL+CT+RL, 5+5+1 damage) The PPC remained silent as the Dragon waited for an opportune target, now fighting patiently.
The Grand Dragon, seeing the ShadowHawk fall, backed up, and then strode alongside the road, tracking for targets until its ally stood back up.
