As they neared the cove, it became clear that the beach zigged sharply around a protruding cliff and then entered an isolated section of mostly calm water, compared to the storm tossed surf further out to sea.

The bay was fairly large, and about a third of the way down the beach was a spindly metal structure of some sort, topped with a rounded metal array, perhaps the height of a battlemech.

As if in answer, the Stinger's sensors noted there was energy inside the structure, and it was emitting some sort of signal, but the mech didn't have a sophisticated enough sensor suite to decipher if it was radar or some other signal.

"Maybe? I've not seen anything like it before." Felicity dared to move closer to it. "I'm going to get a closer look. Maybe some pictures. Luckily, Kiara's watertight." Aren't you? She pats a bit of the inside of her mech where there weren't any controls. Good girl.

Moving closer and closer, Felicity tried to get a better look. "If it's emitting a signal I might be able to pick it up with my Comm Kit. Should I give it a try?"

To be fair, most mechs were water-tight...

Still, her comm kit was picking up... something.

When the turned up the volume a horribly scrambled noise came out, quite painful to the ear.

"$?&^!" Swearing loudly, Felicity quickly turned the volume down some.

"Comms is picking up some scrambled mess. Ow. I'll try to record it and adjust the frequency dial back and forth. Keep a watch for me, ok?"

She turned her attention to the now buzzing Comm Kit. Bloody thing. She carefully began trying to dial to the signal. She wasn't the best at it, but she could take her time. There was only so much range.

As she rotated the dial, she could tell that... nothing was changing. As it faded in and out, it seemed to just... be that. It was broadcasting that noise. Whatever it was... that was it.

Felicity did just that with her Comms Kit. Later, she'd ask Nora or someone smart about it. Quite possibly one of the Echo scientists.
