EVENT: Simulation Day: Bravo Team (Day T-1, Afternoon, Sims)

Situation: Yuri Creed has called forth a training day for all the pilots of the company. An opportunity to shake off the rust, and a chance for the man in charge to see what his employees can do. Called to order in the simulation room and stood at attention, Yuri gave a simple briefing and then dismissed each pilot to their pod, already programmed with the parameters of their mechs.

The mission was simple, a straightforward force on force exercise - a pair of hostile mechs were holding a small station on the far side of a gorge - they were to be driven off or destroyed. How each participant would be graded was not yet explained.

Paticipants: Andrea Detroyes, Freja Fogel, Felicity, Marik Ishtal

Rules: The battle will be fought as a mech vs mech combat using the standard mech vs mech rules. Weather is clear and there are no additional modifiers.

Results: In order to win the battle, the team must defeat the target mechs within ten combat rounds.

Victory: The team show good skill, and shake off the rust admirably. All members of the Fortunate Ones will receive 1 additional exp during the next exp allotment.

Defeat: The force has shown they are still rusty, or perhaps inexperienced. In either case, the team all lose .2 fame, and all members of the Fortunate Ones are ordered to perform additional training, providing 1 additional exp during the next exp allotment, and causing fatigue penalties in the first in game day for all members of the Fortunate Ones.

Pilots should post up an entrance into their pod, once everyone is present, the simulation will begin.

Standing up and hurrying over when it was clear Yuri wanted them at attention, Felicity moved opposite and stood straight. She hardly looked like a warrior. The red hoodie didn't help. She was wearing it over her coolant vest, along with her hat. With minimal clothing necessary for a mech, and intending to treat the simulation as close as possible to the real thing, there was one very obvious reveal about the young woman now.

She had a black furred tail.

It swayed slowly left and right as she listened closely to the briefing. When dismissed she hastened to her pod. Closing it, she threw off her hoodie inside and strapped in. She began quickly checking over the settings to make sure it matched what her mech's specs and capabilities were, as well as trying to check the terrain, OpFor and other details. The feedback from the neurohelmet was pretty accurate. She tried opening a communication line to the motley Bravo squad.

"This is Felicity. Callsign..." A sigh. "KBB. Operational and ready."

Andrea arrived in similarly light attire and the bulky cooling vest that kept a pilot from frying like an egg. Clutched in her right hand was a sheathed cavalry sabre. Catching sight of the tail made the young noble do a double take. And her she thought her archaic habit of carrying a literal sword in a mech fight would be the craziest thing today.

The other pilot disappeared into her pod before any further questions could be raised. So Andrea settled into her own cockpit and secured the sword, then she settled the bulky neurohelmet on her head and begin the warmup sequence.

Speaking of archaic practice, Marik Wa Mo Ishtal knelt before his mech, saying a short prayer in Egyptian before mounting the mech and performing the startup sequence.

This was especially weird to do in a simulation, but periphery traditions were periphery traditions.

After some time and a little static, the voice of Marik makes his way onto the comms line.

"Pilot Marik, simulated Thorn is operational."

Freja was dressed in practical gear, like the others had been. Unlike them, she did not have any... weird... props and extremities; nor any weird rituals. Her eyes fell over the tail, the sword, and the man praying, with a casual detachment. She supposed superstitions and... general strangeness... were perhaps just part of being a mechwarrior. Maybe she should work on developing a 'thing' of her own; or risk being thought of as the strange one by omission of strangeness. Long-term problem, though.

Getting into a mech, even in a simulation, caused all sorts of instincts to kick back in. It just felt *right*.

"Fogel, ready." her line crackled as she relayed the two most important and only relevant items of information: identity & status.

Re: EVENT: Simulation Day: Bravo Team (Day T-1, Afternoon, S

As the team settled into their pods, the computer, in that soothing voice, checked off all the startup sequence. Each pod contained a bulky neuro helmet which covered the head and rested on the shoulders of the padded cooling vest, along with the hookup tube for the vest, and the bio-sensor patches to attach to arms and legs. It would be a familiar ritual to any mechwarrior, attaching the monitoring patches to bare skin on legs and arms, and then attaching the coolant pump. That familiar chill as the cold liquid surrounded their torso, and then the wash of heat as the 'mech engine' began sending waves of warm air up across their feet and into the cockpit.

For now, it was nothing much, but once things got started, the pods would become proper ovens, in which the mechwarriors would be ever so glad they weren't clad in full combat fatigues - though many novice mechwarriors were uncomfortable stripping down, many veterans would go into battle wearing nothing more than combat boots, shorts, a tank top, and the coolant vest... and some less than that. Anything to help stay cool.

As the pods began to warm, a voice crackled over the simulation.

"Good luck. Show me what you've got."

Yuri Creed signed off the mic, and then leaned back in his own pod, smiling faintly. Another button activated the simulation, and the view screens on each pod opened up to a simulated cockpit view. They were in a grassy valley, with lightly rolling hills and patches of woodland.

Round 1:
Status: All mechs in peak condition, no excess heat.

Player movement -> simultanteous shooting -> enemy movement -> repeat

Players should post their planned movement and then shooting from their end square, if any.

Freja activated her jump jets, her specialty, and launched the stinger forward into a forested area behind some cover; then attempted to shoot at the big scary looking dragon. It seemed like the sort of thing to do.

"Sensors read a Jenner behind those hills, and there is that Dragon. Jenner first?" Felicity offered over the mic. "I can get a bead on it if you can move up ready to support?"

She waited a moment before angling her mech and activating her jump jets as she noticed the Stinger do the same. "I will get their attention."

With a big smile she felt her mech take off. However, it wasn't as satisfying as the real thing. Cutting the jets to cause a descent, firing them only slightly to control her fall, she aimed for a gap in the trees at the top of the hill. As soon as she landed she maneuvered to line up her weapons with the waiting Jenner.

"Firing."

First the PPC and then her SRMs.

(Jumping to 1011, facing 1112, and firing everything at the Jenner!)

Seeing as his team had begun moving, he trusted his old instincts. The terrain was... nice, not unlike his home planet, and the open vertical space was something he'd have to get used to. Nevertheless, he moved.

Seeing as the team was divided, he tried to move in support of the more oppressive push, but keep in a position where he could back up his other teammate with harassment fire. Breaking into a full sprint, he braced for the coming heat.

"Engaging Jenner! Freja, call if you need support!"

Andrea smiled, "Advancing at speed. Engaging Jenner." With that she kicked the Commando into a full run. Following the outer edge of the hill she twists the torso to face the Jenner and fires both SRMs into the enemy mech.

--------
Run to 1210 and fire SRM-4 and -6 at Jenner

For clarity: Mech is facing 1311. Torso turned to face 1211
