Watching Warriors Work (DT-1, Afternoon, Simulator Room)

[James Hall]

"The mech is good enough that I'd rather wait before committing it to salvage. At least, until we see what sort of salvage is gained by the enemies."

Mata smiles. This guy likes her idea. "See. I got my own Locust." She pulls a crudely made mech toy which resembles a Locust.

"Mata, you can show your toys later. You'll miss the fight otherwise."

[Theodore Beker]

"Oh, yeah, I'd happily tinker with it once the Locust and Hornet are up and running. We have no shortage of snipers."

"That isn't half bad," he said looking at the model, "That is 1M, right?" He gestured to the arms, such as they were.

[James Hall]

Mata nods and "Wow. Look at that." She points to the screen as the Thorn shoots the Grand Dragon in the head.

James nods approvingly. That is how a mechwarrior fights.

[Theodore Beker]

"Well, he ducked that counterpunch. That is fairly impressive. Maybe he has an idea what he is doing. I was worried we had some guy with more experience brawling in a hatchetman than anything else."

[James Hall]

"Ugh. I hate that thing. I am glad this company does not have one. A mech dedicated to physical attacks? Ugh."

[Theodore Beker]

"They have an AC10 too. I had to service a few when I was with the Guard. Not saying they aren't crazy brawling grunts but if the pilot wants they do have a perfectly suitable gun on the thing," he laughed and took another drink, "Problem is if you give a mechwarrior a hatchet they tend to want to use the things."

[James Hall]

James nods. "Exactly. Why encourage that behavior? Even with the AC 10, it's clear the design purpose. I'm no mechwarrior. But seeing them use physical attacks feels.... sacrilegious."

[Theodore Beker]

"Not sure about sacrilegious but it sure makes AC20s look like a better investment to the other side. Or that is what I saw from war games involving the things," he grinned, "They ain't that tough. Then again up that close the Dragon can't use its bigger guns... This might be the right sort of crazy."

[James Hall]

James pursed his lips at that. Generally, he seemed to find physical attacks offensive in general. "It looks like the Commando is in trouble. I wonder she'll do now."

[Theodore Beker]

"Yeah, mostly cored..." he swigged his beer, "I'm calling it here. That's gonna be the hanger queen. Too little armour, too much guns, pilot too interested in being a hero. Probably won't get slagged but it is never not going to need armour replacement."
