What response will he choose?

Counterattack! The spirit of bushido demands offense - give no thought to the risks or the losses, striking back at the enemy wherever possible to blunt the offensive before it can gain momentum. A risky gambit, but one which might win by audacity alone.

Dig in. If each world is turned into a fortress and given up only when every defender is dead, the enemy will be bled of their desire for conquest before the Combine runs out of worlds.

Defense in Depth. Give up ground to gain time - preparing a strong defense and regrouping before committing to battle - lest the enemy drive carry them all the way to Luthien and the palace of the coordinator.

Request Aid. The other powers can see the danger posed by the rising Commonwealth, and perhaps it will be possible to ambush and break the enemy drive by requesting Comstar once again inflict an interdiction on the Federated Commonwealth - cut off their ability to command their forces and then ambush and overwhelm lead units - stall the attack and sow terror and confusion behind enemy lines with surgical raids.

Hire mercenaries. The Combine has long hated mercenaries and looked down on them... but Theodore has been changing things, and now more than ever, more firepower is needed, and fast, especially since units might be available to hire in positions away from the front line, to hit vulnerable targets... provided his lawyers can convince the MRB to allow such missions and hiring.

POLL: The Kanrei's Response

Not long after the Fortunate Ones arrived at Illium, war broke out once again between the Draconis Combine and the Federated Commonwealth, with Commonwealth forces striking deep into Combine space in a blitz attack. Now, facing the same fate that befell the now runt state of the Capellans, Kanrei Theodore Kurita has to make a choice.

The Kanrei will be indecisive, attempting to use multiple responses in the hopes that one might work, petitioning Comstar for help while also reaching out to the MRB for additional manpower.
