He sat down at the terminal with his noteputer at the side. "Well, I should probably start by checking that this thing isn't bugged or anything before I move it to the big board," he said setting up some diagnostic checks of the file they had acquired from the relay.

He returned to his seat with a coffee. "Diagnostics look clear," he sipped his coffee, "Okay. This is clean. Moving on to the main event..."
He plugged the file into the main computer and waited to see what he got.

The file wasn't bugged or malicious - at least he could tell that much.
Actually deciphering it was going to be an issue, because when he played it back, it was still garbled and horrible. Whatever was wrong with it... it seemed was actually baked into the audio - and now that he had video, it wasn't any better. Perhaps it had been scrambled or something like that, but it wasn't clear what the trick was.
(Computers(cryptography)/Intelligence at TN 25 to fix file association codecs for partial improvement - and/or - Computers/Awareness at TN 25 to recognize patterns and isolate them for partial improvement)

for well over an hour. Bleary eyed he sat back in his seat, "What is... you?"
