James figured with all the mech repairs, he'd take a look at the Vulcan again. This was triage. As much as he wanted to take his time with it, he'd work on the Shilone if it was too much of a problem.

The vulcan sat, mysterious and foreboding.
The Shilone showed blast marks, shattered armor segments, missing paint revealing gleaming metal underneath.
Alexei had brought it in, landed, and gone to ice his hands, cursing under his breath.

James gives the Vulcan a better look over than the first time.

It was a difficult problem to spot, and it took him the better part of an hour, but eventually he did find it.
Inside the control system, a single wire was not broken. It was not cut.
It was simply slightly loose. Enough that, under negative G force, it might temporarily lose connection.
A simple bead of solder, and it was done.
As simply as that, the Vulcan was ready to fly.

James laughed. "Well, that was anti-dramatic. Mata, go tell the captain the Vuclan is ready to fly. I'll put get some work on the Shilone done before I gotta get back to the mech bay."

It took a little while, but eventually she brought him back.
Glancing at James, he said, dryly, "What news do you have for me? Miss Mata is refusing to say."

"I'm doing a little work on the Shilone before I gotta get to the mechs, but I won't finish. So, you'll have to take the Vulcan out for now." James smiles. "She's all ready to go."

"Oh? Wonderful!" He practically beamed. "The 113th will fly again!"
Seeming to realize he'd said more than he should, he glanced at the man. "The shilone isn't hurt too bad - so don't consider it a priority... what was wrong with Kestrel... I mean the Vulcan?"

"A loose wire. That was all. An important one and it took me an hour to find the little bugger, but in the end, that was all it was. A reminder that the smallest thing can cause a big problem."
Mata was offended by that, but she turned to Alexi. "You name your aerospace fighter? That's so cool. What's the Shilone's name?"
The 113th and Kestrel didn't seem to register anything to man who did not grow up around *here.
*OOC: Unless it would be something that James could know through his knowledge, then I'd like to do a skill check.

(Extremely unlikely to prompt any memories)
With a faint smile, he glanced at Mata, "I don't name them all. But that one is special. I... my ancestor took it from Amaris. It's a weapon taken from the usurper and used against him. It earned a name in battle."
Crouching, he met her gaze and inquired, "The Shilone did well today though... what do you think we should call it?"
