By now Felicity was beginning to feel a measure of competency with the Valkyrie. She wouldn't have said familiarity, but she was confident she could pilot it somewhat. The jump specs were very similar to the Phoenix, so that helped. The LRMs she would have to get used to.
For that, practice helped.
In just her boots, spandex shorts and tank top, Felicity entered the simulator room once more to get one of the pods up and running.

Andrea arrived in her coat with a sword. Stripping off the coat she was down to bicyclist shorts and a tight breathable shirt. Spotting Fee, she smiled, "I see I was not the only one wanting to get some nervous energy out before...well the inevitable end."
She begin starting up her own pod and carefully set the sword inside. "...we both have new mechs to learn no?" Her smile was sympathetic, "A Valkyrie is a good mech, I rode one at NAIS."

Felicity turned around and smiled softly as she recognized Andrea. She was still feeling down. "That and wanting to get in more time with the Valkyrie. I'm only part way confident with it."
Her ears stood up as Andrea mentioned new mechs. "Yea, but yours is by choice." Her tone softened some as Andrea spoke about the Valkyrie. "Really? Can you share some pointers? I practiced with Bruun yesterday, but it was my first time trying to pilot it in simulations. I'm... kind of worried piloting it for real, in combat, won't be similar enough. I've walked it around the camp, but that's it so far."

"Its pretty good a harassing from range. At least while their are LRMs in the rack." Andrea smiled, "Fast and with jump jets, easy to get to a good firing position and escape if anything to nasty gets near. It should have some similarities to your Phoenix in that regard. Though it won't have the damage of that PPC you had. The one I had at NAIS was fairly new, probably not as good as the one you are taking over."

"I haven't used a mech with LRMs before. It's taking some getting used to." Felicity admitted. "They're a much more fiddly weapon that a PPC." She crossed her arms and frowned. "The jump jets are good and the Valkyrie handled fine, but it just doesn't feel the same. I need more time." She remembered where they were and points to the pods. "And practice."

"True for all mechs," Andrea nodded then smiled, "And it is something we both need...so better now then later no?"

"Right."
Felicity gave a few nods, happy at feeling understood by someone.
"Is there a scenario you would like to do?"

"Hmm...." Andrea crossed her arms, "We should do a last stand, outnumbered and surrounded."
She presses her lips together, "Our enemy will likely be in such a position, perhaps if we recreate that scenario we might get some insight into their tactics."

"I'd just jump away. That's the benefit of a fast and mobile mech. Last stands aren't needed." Felicity points out. "But we can contrive one if you think it'd be helpful. Pues... based on their behaviour so far, they're more likely to try to go out in a blaze of glory than actually fight smart."

"I mean yeah, but this isn't about what you or I would do naturally but what our enemy will do." Andrea nodded, "Fewer surprises is best."
"And I agree...they will come out seeking death, theirs and ours. They have nothing to lose and we have everything to lose."
