Bruun, not having heard Marik's nickname before, looks a little... jealous?

“Maybe he was going out a bit far. We can talk it over and see what he thinks. It is hard to throw the rough when you are in a house made of glasses.”

“Ah, his nickname. It is because of his culture, we did not name him after the pectorals, nice though they are.”

Bruun laughs. "Best, huh? I think my lance took out more hostiles than you and Abs," he says in good humor. There's a slight delay.

"Wait, 'first first sergeant'? No, no, no. Don't say stuff like that around Creed. He'll put me in charge of some other damn thing." Bruun is genuinely alarmed at getting more responsibility.

This time her smile is a bit less hesitant, particularly as Bruun considers the perils of even further command.

Bruun looks at Maja with some astonishment, processing the idea that drinking and swearing would be enough to make a mechwarrior seem ill-suited to leadership. Oh honey, you have not seen what I've seen in mercenary companies.

"Um, I think he knows how much I swear, based on that blue streak I was cussing on the battlefield today." Bruun looks a little embarrassed. "And I got rules about drinking," he says very seriously.

But it's because I don't want to do some of the things I've seen other people do." He sighs a little heavier. "I'd like fewer people to see some of that stuff."

Where Bruun had looked a bit deflated, hearing that his rules might qualify as wisdom was quite a lift.

"Well, I reckon they could be wise. Mostly they're about keeping me alive. And, uh, I guess, by extension, keeping other folks alive too." He scratches at his beard. "I don't reckon everyone needs the same rules, but at least a few is probably wise. Like no jumping on tanks." He grins at her.
