Day 4 (Nov 27-30)
Posted: Fri Nov 27, 2020 8:47 pm
The fevered pace of activity goes into a lull as morning dawns and the storm eases off. The crew, finally given leave to rest, head to their bunks for all too brief naps, before returning to work later in the day. Coffee is kept ready at all times, along with simple food that is easy to snack on, as work repairing and refitting mechs continues at a fever pass, along with repairing vehicles and establishing defensive positions around the Calico.
After a planning session, further work would continue throughout the day, until, late in the night, the fire of a dropship entering atmosphere could be seen in the twilight sky. The battle would be coming in the morning, dark and early. Getting rest would be a challenge for the anxious crew.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 4 Weather: The rain continues through the night and into morning, petering out in the EM time slot. The ground is now a muddy morass, making movement of vehicles extremely difficult, and travel impossible for the Crawler. Off road travel is discouraged, meaning the contractual patrol is performed in a tight loop around the fence by a disgruntled pair of infantry. The temperature remains chilly, around 67 Fahrenheit (19.4 Celsius) at the height of the day, and dropped substantially as night falls. The cloud cover never breaks, and occasional rumbles of thunder sound out... the storm doesn't appear interested in breaking.
Note: Yuri Creed has made himself available in the EM for brief consults if any members of the company have concerns or need to speak with him - especially since he had to announce Freja was temporarily off assignment, replaced by a talented trainee. Reasons given were 'medical concerns'.
Events:
Preparation in Depth - LM
-- will potentially unlock other events
Be very quiet, I'm hunting origami cats - EE
Special Rules: Players may post in any region except Limbo. Threads outside the Calico by members of the Echo Exploration team must include at least 1 member of the Fortunate Ones as security, or the Fortunate Ones will suffer a breach of contract. All regions outside Human Edge and the Calico are extremely muddy - the salvage crawler can no longer safely travel, and off-road travel is discouraged.
Current rules of engagement: Weapons free when encountering Slate Eater vehicles or personnel - all other locals are fire only when fired upon. Black Dragon units are Kill on Sight.
All characters get a stipend of 150 Pojes, the local currency for trade and shopping.
