Once they loaded into the elevator, there was a groan of tortured metal as the engines began to turn, scraping off rust and squealing as metal that hadn't been lubricated in 200 years began to turn.
They might want to ride a different elevator back down...
Still... it moved.
And before long, the doors slid open to reveal a massive command center, where flight control once happened.
Lights strobed about the room as the alarm blared, the hazard lights the only ones which had survived, thanks to not being left on for 200 years.
Among the shifting shadows they could see that most of the equipment had been broken when, at some point, someone had gotten into a firefight in here.
The fact that there were skeletons, still clad in civilian and military fatigues, scattered around near the doors didn't breed confidence.
They couldn't see the back half of the room without leaving the elevator - something that suddenly felt a lot less inviting.
Kamaitachi whistled.
"Looks like a killing zone... and not all those bodies are as ancient as the others. Puts your hair right up, that does."
