Event: Cashflow Issues (Day 3, LM)

Situation: As the rain poured down, Yuri Creed and Nora Crosette had gone to town, armed with the suggestions and advice of their company. It was time to sell a battlemech so they could pay the crew and staff a usable wage. The question now was which one, and who could best negotiate the deal?

Participants: Any number of players

Rules: There are two steps to this event for all participants.

Step 1: Nominate a Battlemech. The character can nominate any mech in the company roster that isn't privately owned and recommend it as the mech that they should sell.

Step 2: Convince Yuri - This is a Communications/Awareness roll at TN 10. The TN is increased by 15 if you are suggesting a mech assigned to another pilot, and decreased by 5 if suggesting a mech you are assigned to pilot, as you know the selling points of the model along with the flaws. The mech which receives a passed roll with the most successful raises will be chosen - in a tie, it will be based on the highest passing roll. If no mech is successfully nominated, Nora will choose one.

Result: At the end of the event, the winning Mech Salesperson will have to make a contested Negotiation/Willpower check against Discount Dillan to determine how much they get for the mech, which will then be used to determine the pay given to the crew and the amount available for purchasing parts for repairs and refits.

"Major Creed, sir, have I got a deal for you," Bruun swaggers in, feeling very smart about his case to keep Blondie from being sold.

He is surprisingly successful at the pitch. None of the mechwarriors want to pilot the Urbanmech, the townspeople probably find it impressive because of what the sheriff uses, the sheriff may want a spare. It's a winning strategy. And Blondie stays with me, Bruun exults as he salutes and leaves.

Colette was on her way to a meeting with her new friend. She noted Nora, Yuri and Brunn talking about selling a mech. "Ah... Monsieur Creed perhaps Monsieur Brunn has a point but Urbie seems to be a beloved one for such nick. I propose unit UB-45" She smiled. "Mais should be sold to someone reliable..." She gave it some thought. "Maybe Monsieur Marshall can suggest someone."

The tech tried to talk people into selling an extra scout mech like the Hornet but accidentally made a solid pitch for the defensive uses of an Urbanmech to defend a town.

In the end, Colette made her case, winning over the Major.

Confronted with the firm as steel handshake and beaming smile of Discount Dillan, now she had to find a way to sell the man the mech. (Opposed Negotiation/Willpower roll - 27)

Colette wasn't too aggressive in her negotiations. She was quite polite. Luck was not on her side... maybe it was the rain.

In the end the Urbanmech went for a relatively miserable price, but it was still money that could be spent locally.

Yuri directed a large sum set aside to buy parts from the scavenger market if needed, and then handed over a new set of coins to Colette. "You'll be the first. Enjoy having some local tender."
