The sensors didn't detect anything, but both mechwarriors felt something was off at about the same time.
A few moments later, there was a quiet beep as the mech sensors detected a metal object, half submerged on the beach.
As they came over the next dune, it was clear why they had felt so... ill at ease.
A dilapidated metal skeleton lay in the shallows, the hollowed out wreck of a Leopard class dropship. The craft was smaller than the Calico, only able to field four mechs, and more like a flying box than an egg, but it still felt very strange to see such a large and important thing left to rot this way. The waves lapped at the nose of the ship which was partially submerged, a skeletal remnant of corrosion and rust, but the back end was high up the beach, and was windswept, half submerged in sand, and otherwise abandoned... but somewhat intact.
It was clear the ship had crashed, hard, from the massive furrow in the ground running inland - it had dragged across hundreds of yards before coming to a stop.
