[D2 LA] Fortunate Sons Day 2 Patrol - Coast to Coast (Open)

'Wurm' stops slowly along the ashen beaches of the coast, occasionally turning this way or that to avoid one of the strange structures remaining from before what ever war devastated the area. Inside the cockpit, Maja checks her scanners every few moments, trying to get herself into good habits for future patrols. Thus far she hasn't spotted anything, which the young pilot was grateful for.

((Day 2 Fortunate Sons Patrol is a go)

Bruun is thrilled to join Maja on patrol, though he's hardly bubbly about it. What she's mostly heard is, "It's about time that Blondie and I got out for a stroll. I knew being a leader was more work, but god damn the last few hours..."

He was attentive to his scanners and made sure to pilot Blondie with care, but as they made their way further from the dropship, he actually seemed to be getting more relaxed.

For her part Maja was pretty comfortable with Bruun present, although it wasn't something she'd really vocalised.

As she pilots her mech around and sometimes over various obstacle the young pilot is happy to let the other first sergeant talk, sometimes interjecting with a question or a snort.

Without objection from his patrol partner, Bruun gets the grumpy comments out of his system and after a time realizes he's been dominating the conversation.

"Hey Stitches, what's your mech's name again? Blondie should know who her wing person is," he says jovially.

"Hmmm? Oh, she is Wurm like a great horned serpment."
The mech half turns towards Blondie and seems to dip its torso slightly.

"A more fearsome creature she has never seen. Although, Blondie? Your mech....she is not blond?"

Bruun roars with laughter at the bow, and then goes to the effort of reciprocating.

"Glad to know you, Wurm. Keep my friend Stitches safe, ok?"

"Oh, and I reckon Blondie just seemed to fit because she's a pretty girl, ain't ya, Blondie? A golden Valkyrie should be some kind of avenging angel, right?"

The mech's horn sounds, whether in agreement or because Maja pushed the button, Bruun may never know.

"She is very pretty, and a Valkyrie is a good thing. She is a noble warrior."
Maja takes a moment to inspect the other mech on her sensors, reasoning any more knowledge about mechs was always good.

"This is what a mech should be, a thing that is fighting for good, protecting that which is smaller, which is most things."

So far the scopes were quiet.

No signs of anything unusual - previous patrols had headed north, so that ground had been covered.

"I think the others said they'd gone north along the coast. Shall we head south and try making some new scenery?" Bruun takes a moment to enjoy the coastal view while awaiting Maja's agreement. Once gained, Blondie stomps southward, still moving at a casual speed and scanning anything remotely worth scanning.

"Ja, where is the point in seeing the old ground?"
Maja and Wurm fall in next to and slightly behind Blondie and Bruun as the two mechs stomp down towards the south

"It is exciting, no? To be on a new world?"
