[D16, EE, closed] Taking aim

[Dorgan Bruun]

There's a slow rumble of laughter from deep in Bruun, which certainly reinforces the bear image. He smiles down at Colette and shakes his head, but the goofy simile won't come off.

"Well, I been called plenty worse. And, truth be told, I reckon I'd let you call me just about anything. So that's just fine. No senor stuff though. Just Oso." He thinks about it another moment. "Reckon I am a bit bear-like. Maybe explains why I'd rather nap than go out in the cold," he says, winking at Colette, still wearing the goofy smile.

Colette giggled, letting go. "So Oso it is." She smiled "So Oso, what pointers can you give petite Colette?"

[Dorgan Bruun]

"Well, petite Colette," he says, mimicking her sweetly. "I reckon there's two things to do. One, your stance was a little narrow. Especially for a, uh, smaller person," he says, seeming self conscious about how he talks about her.

"Um, here, stand like you did, ready to fire," he waves toward where she'd been firing before. As she takes the position again, he swallows nervously. "Ok, um, so if you step just a little wider... Yeah, there you go. Great," he exhales. "Um, then..." Bruun takes a deep breath.

"So with your, uh, less dominant hand," he starts to reach up, then shies away. "Um, you..." Bruun takes a deep breath. "May I, uh, just show you? Just drop your second hand there, and then I'll show you..."

Colette blinked a few times noting that Bruun seemed nervous. "Oso?” She turned to look at the man and frown.
"If you are going to help me, you should stop being nervous and man up!" She giggled. "I am not a frail sugar sculpture. I am isomalt. Strong and sturdy."

Bruun laughs, knowing he's been silly. He takes a deep breath, but with a warm smile on his face.

"Of course. I'm sorry Colette. A bit too long only around mercenary soldiers. I'm, ah, out of practice dealing with a lady." He exhales nervously. "I don't want to do anything wrong."

Colette blinked a few times. "Aren't many of your company female?” She looked up at Bruun puzzled. "Am I zat different?"

Bruun freezes, realizing he's in dangerous territory.

"Um. They are women. Not necessarily ladies." He grimaces after he says it, feeling like an ass. "But I'm not, uh, interested in them, the way I'm interested in you." He closes his eyes and groans softly. Try again.

"I... I'm sorry," Bruun says, running a hand over his face and head. "What I mean is, with you, I think about nice things, like pancakes, and being happy, and not..." His voice goes quieter as he finishes. "Maybe not being a mercenary forever."

Colette giggled at his nervousness. "I guess zat explanation is a yes." She gave him a half hug. "It is okay Oso. I have that magic. Making people feel different." She lowered her head. "Sometimes a bit too much. C'est la vie... lines..." She seemed a bit off. She tried to shake it off.

Bruun is relieved at the hug, but starts to look concerned at what follows.

"I know I like the way I feel different around you," he says warmly, trying to get where he can look in her eyes. "You think you make some people feel different... in a bad way?" The idea is crazy to him, high on Colette as he is, but he's very interested in what seems to be getting her down.

Colette looked up and sighed. "You see some people try to take advantage of ... comment je peux dire... ze energy I give out. Force themselves on to me mais... rien." The girl shook her head and smiled at the man. "San souci, n'est pas?"
