Event: The Sun Never Sets (Day 6, LE)

The situation was rapidly deteriorating for the Black Dragons, and the fight was now just a furious exchange of fire and violence. The wolverine, from the ground, fired the all it had, but did manage at least to scrape Yuri's armor. (Hit LTR, 2 damage)

The Battlemaster, surrounded, opened fire with everything it had, perhaps hoping to take Andrea with it. The machine guns, PPC, three medium lasers, and three SRMs all tore into the Ostsol, flaying away armor and blowing apart the left arm entirely, (Hit RA+LA+LA+LT+RL+RT+LT+RL+RA+LT, 1+1+10+5+2+2+2+5+5+5 damage) the massive impact rocking the mech and forcing Andrea to struggle for her balance (piloting roll failed), then the mech tipped, smashing down hard, though she avoided injury (Hit RL+LT, 5+1 damage)

The enemy Blackjack fired everything at the Falcon that leapt past again, striking it some glancing blows with medium lasers (Hit LL+RA+LT, 5+5+2 damage), and the Vindicator caught the Wyvern with a ruby and emerald laser pair (Hit LT+RT, 3+5 damage). Finally, the Dragon fired all it could at Bruun, save the missile rack, autocannon shells and laser both striking at the firefly (Hit LL+CT, 5+5 damage), and the rear laser speared into the Ostsol's leg as it fell, slicing away more armor (Hit LL, 5 damage).

In return, the Fortunate Ones kept up the pressure, firing everything they could. Gillian, from her perch near the road, kept tracking the Battlemaster and planted a PPC blast into the rear armor, flaying it away and starting to eat into the internal structure. (Hit RTR, 10 damage). At the same time, the leaping Falcon managed to catch the blackjack in the chest with its PPC, knocking off armor plates in a crackling discharge(Hit LT, 10 damage). The Thorn, pushing forward, fired twin emerald beams which speared the vindicator, carving into arm and chest both (Hit LT+RA, 5+5 damage), while the Wyvern unleashed three lasers and the SRM 6, hitting with an azure and a ruby beam, followed by 5 warheads which battered the already failing Vindicator and cracked the cockpit canopy. (Hit LT+RL+RT+RL+LA+LA+HD, 8+3+2+2+2+2+2 damage, pilot injured).

Then the crab, plodding closer, fired a trio of different color beams, and the blue large laser lanced through the vindicator's right arm, turning what little remained of the structure into slag (Hit RA, 8 damage, RA destroyed, 3 damage transfers to RT).

The Ostsol, before losing its balance, fired a Large laser and twin mediums into the back of the Blackjack, savaging the lighter mech with a trio of glowing slashes (Hit RTR+RL+RTR, 8+5+5 damage, RT destroyed, 2 damage transfers to CTR) that carved off the right side of the torso in a vicious attack. Yuri, trying to help his embattled, reckless soldier, fired the medium laser and LRMs at the battlemaster, but only hit with the former (hit RL, 5 damage) - and the back mounted laser punshing the fallen Wolverine (Hit LA, 5 damage).

Bruun, in his firefly, now up close to the Dragon, perhaps flinched away from some damage, or perhaps was just astoundingly, absurdly unlucky as the two emerald beams he fire missed wide, and the twin emerald lances, flickering pulses, only landed a glancing blow (Hit LA, 1 damage). At the same time, an ancient fighter craft, of a design the targeting computers struggled to recognize, swept into a lazy dive across the battlefield, riding twin plumes of flame, it fired a paired emerald and azure beam, and then sent six missiles spiraling down, led by twin streams of high caliber autocannon shells which battered and shook the Battlemaster like it were some toy, explosions stitching across it's mighty frame as it was pummeled (Hit RA+RL+CTR+CTR+LTR+LA, 8+5+5+3+10+10 damage), leaving very little armor remaining on the mighty war machine, though somehow the pilot kept it standing, against all odds. (Piloting roll passed)

Then there was the matter of physical attacks - the Vindicator kicked at Wurm, but couldn't land a blow, and in return suffered a sharp kick from the Thorn (hit LL, 4 damage, crit Lower leg+foot), and then a punch from Wurm (hit RT, 5 daamge), and a kick from the Crab (hit RL, 10 damage, leg destroyed, 1 damage transfers to RT). The damage sent it tumbling to the ground with a crunch. (hit RT, 5 damage, 2xHeat Sink crit, pilot injured)

North, Bruun slammed his mech into the leg of the Dragon, shattering an armor plate, (hit LL, 6 damage) and dodging out of any counter attack, while the Battlemaster suffered the fate of its friend, Yuri hitting it's right leg in the back of the knee, and then calmly hitting it again, snapping off the leg at the knee and sending the mighty assault to the ground. (Hit RL+RL, 12+12 damage) (Fell, hit RT+LA, 5+4 damage, pilot injured)

The enemy mechs were starting to overheat to the point where they were struggling to move and aim, but still they fought, the Dragon turning and charging Yuri, perhaps hoping to defend his leader.

Well, Yuri had said no quarter. Maja won't stop firing and stomping until there is no more vindicator.

Snorri joins in on the curbstomping of the machine looking to cripple it. There would be a need to resupply after all.

"I'm going to assist Vanguard. You all have him." Felicity communicates before slipping away. She jumped North of the deep woods and began searching for targets for her LRMs.

They soon launched toward the beleaguered Blackjack. She also fired her medium laser, but it was a difficult shot.

Gillian was perfectly happy to stay at a distance and continue firing her particle cannon into the chaotic scrum.

"Oh no, son," Bruun growls at the enemy Dragon, "Firehead and I ain't done with you yet..."

The Firefly stalks forward, ready to lay down everything again, as Bruun calls out to rally his lance: "Chick, Chow, y'all gotta keep that Blackjack off Andrea until she finds her feet again."

Andrea cursed as she toppled, then flicked on her comms and laughed, "Is this the strength of the Black Dragon, Colonel? No wonder your Coordinator disowned you!" She attempted to stand the Ostol up and move into woods. She then fires everything into the Blackjack.

The battle was, for all intents and purposes, over.

The only question was if the Black Dragon mechs could do any more - they had arrived damaged, and they would not leave the field, the Dragon firing all it could but hitting nothing, unable to save its commander, and the blackjack only managed to land a single laser on Andrea as she got her Ostol up and moving, carving off the last armor and starting to melt structure from the torso (Hit LT, 5 damage)

Then it was the slaughter. The Thorn fired twice, melting away more of the Vindicator (hit LA+RT, 5+5 damage), and the Falcon leapt behind the Dragon, unleashing her PPC and Medium lasers into the mech - the lasers slicing weakly through the leg armor, but the PPC punching through into the torso... and in a familiar sight, the Dragon blossomed into a raging inferno, this time echoing with a chain of explosions from the autocannon shells, sending shell casing fragments to rattle off nearby canopies and bounce about like neurotic bees from hell. (Hit RTR, 10 damage, ammo crit, explosion, 75 damage, mech destroyed)

Yuri fired a medium laser into the battlemaster, followed by a volley of LRMs. The range was so close, 4 failed to arm and bounced off harmlesslly, but the other six detonated across the mech (Hit LA+LL+CTR, 5+5+1 damage), and then his back laser was aimed with a casual flick of the stick, and an emerald beam was fired directly into the cockpit, turning the remaining armor to sludge and leaving the cockpit barely intact, the pilot inside barely alive (Hit called shot, head, 5 damage, crit medium laser, pilot injured)

The Blackjack then came under an immense amount of fire, all at once. 8 LRM and a medium laser from the Valkyrie, one Large and one medium laser from the Ostsol, 3 medium and 2 small pulse lasers from the Firefly all struck in rapid succession, tearing the mech torso to ribbons, and then moments later seeing a fourth ammunition cookoff as the massive conflagration touched off the small caliber rounds for the blackjack, this time creating a ripping series of pops like a firecracker. (Mech super dead)

In the south, the Vindicator could do nothing as three mechs shot it full of weapons fire, the attacks shredding away armor and structure, smashing the cockpit and knocking out the pilot.

A voice came through the comm line. "Enough! I would rather your warriors keep this heirloom than smash it! You have our lives. Let us die with honor."

Yuri, after half a second called out over the command line. "Hold fire!"

Not that he necessarily needed to worry... there were no hostiles left on the field capable of fighting, though some of his warriors might carry on despite his order.
