She yelped at the pain, stuttering but not wielding to the ground — close, though, she knew as she leaned with awkward footwork over the hurt leg.

Ahaha... Even after all those years... The training still burns on my mind. Effective bugger.

She does accept Brunn's help for self-sustain as merely touching her right foot to the ground now hurt like hell.

"The boy here is dying. A... man there is dead." She replies to the Commander. "I can try to get the boy on his feet, but not... Like this."

Marik arrives at the scene with his own pistol ready, but upon seeing the lack of enemies holstered his firearm. His face shows he fully expects another attack, however, and is a warrior's visage of ruthless calm.

" [Shit], what happened?"

Bruun lets the woman lean on him, but realizes she's hurt worse than she's letting on.

"Looky here, Roth," he says in an assertive voice. "Your butt is sitting down while the major gets a patch on that wound. Look at the blood on your leg," he half-scolds the medic.

Bruun very delicately helps Karlotta to a seated position, then sits himself as his head swims for a minute.

The pain was somehow worsening now. Even still now it hurt like when she was putting her foot on the floor. She tried to move it to a more comfortable position with her arm, but touching it — ow — a bad look crossed her face.

When Brunn said, half his words were buzzed out on her ears. But she did listen about a bloodied leg and looked to it. She was losing a lot of blood.

More than happy to wait for treatment.

Yuri knelt, examining the gunshot wound on her let, and then yanking up her combat fatigues and applying the patch over the wound. The material contracted, with a painful tugging sensation, and then there was a soothing numbness as the antiseptic and local anesthetic kicked in. (cured 18 wounds)

Glancing at Bruun, Alexei then applied a patch to his shoulder, same matter of fact application, born of obvious practice. (cured 25 (max 18) wounds)

Both injuries would need to heal, but the patches would function in many ways like a scab, protecting the wound and allowing it to mend naturally, while an arcane mixture of stimulants and artificial stem-cells accelerated recovery. One of the few remaining Star League technologies that hadn't become lostech... Yuri couldn't help but thank whatever cosmic power might be listening for that. The plastiflesh patch auto-factories were a sacred ground for soldiers.

Straightening back up, he glanced around, calling orders into his mic for the 2nd apc, the one without a busted floodlight, to join the perimeter.

Glancing back at the two, he then inquired, "Can you give a report, 1st Sergeant, Specialist?"

As the patch helped him shake off most effects of the wound -- damn, that's a strong medpatch -- Bruun realizes he's the senior soldier and should begin.

"Sir. After the radio calls for a medic, Specialist Roth and I found that soldier," he grimaces as he points to the fallen one, "standing over this here wounded kid. Said he thought there were two, that he fired because when ordered to stop they had fled. We, ah, tried to begin a search for the other suspect or clues, and that's when we came under fire. Assailants unidentified. That kid was killed, and Roth and I wounded. The other suspect was just a blur in the dark and escaped. Specialist Roth can report further on the wounded suspect here." Then he remembersto add, "Sir."

The medpatch comes as a godsend. She wasn't entirely okay still but would be by tomorrow. For exactly now, though, the pain still lingered on her leg, and forcing it was of no use. Karlotta decided to stay seated for a moment until the patch-up anesthesia started to really work.

"Sir, the suspect received two shots. One hit the left lung and the other had excessive bleeding, so I suspect it to have hit one artery. Both had entrance and exit holes, and the four are sealed. There is a high risk of pneumothorax. He won't survive the night without immediate surgical attention, sir."

Yuri was quiet for a moment, weighing the options.

"Are you up for it?"

Glancing to Marik, he added, "See if you can help 1st Sergeant Bruun - let's see if there are any markers of who that was, and why they were here."

Looking back to the teen, a scrawny kid wearing a plaid tunic, rough cargo pants, and worn and patched boots, he sighed. "I don't like seeing the only person who can explain things in that kinda shape - so we need clues in case he doesn't make it."

First things had to come first, and then he added, wearily. "And we need to find out if that town has a morgue - least we can do is give the man a proper burial."

What a hell of a first day planetside.

Bruun, reaching out with his right arm so Marik can pull him to his feet, gets ready to do more hunting. He rescues his laser pistol and holsters it, and then the two men begin to search.

Helping Bruun to his feet, he readies his firearm and helps Bruun search for threats.
