In the end, Jan managed to confirm which of the constellations the signal had come from, but any further messages weren't seeming to go through - something about the alignment had been botched as the planet continued to rotate and the window of opportunity closed.
They had something, at least... an idea where, roughly, they would have to look if they chose, some day, to attempt to do so.
The pair searching the executive suites didn't turn up much, but Aloysius did pick up on a handful of blueprints for the facility and some corporate instinct told him that, down the line, those might have some value, financially or scientifically, so he gathered the tubes holding them and carefully carried them out.
Anastasia finally stood, and announced, "Ok folks, visiting hours are over - captain has to lift off and get back to his ship, so if you aren't aboard... you aren't coming."
Lucretzia sighed, mournfully, giving the machines one last look, and then followed the staff out.
