OOC Conduct and Events
So this is a post that I hope never is needed, but I'm going to put it out here in advance so there is no confusion down the road.
There are a few ground rules for having a good game together, and as long as players stick with them, there shouldn't be any issues. Violating these may get a warning, or even a ban, if the player carries on too long. Remember, the goal of the game is to tell interesting stories and have fun together, so don't get too caught up in the moment - the GM... team?... the GM, at least, is here to try and help you all have a good time, and your fellow players are on your team.
With that in mind the basic rules are as follows:
A: If something bad happens in character or a player is doing something you don't like... leave it in character. Don't go out of character and harass someone, either in public, discord, or PMs. If you are being harassed you can reach out to the GM, and the matter will be mediated. Make your best efforts to get along out of character even if your characters are mortal enemies - after all, we're all in this together.
B: Bad luck - it will happen. Your character may die. This can be upsetting, and we understand that. A little bit of moaning is tolerable, but if you are really upset, try and take a little while away from the screen and then come back. Your next character may be able to fill the now empty seat and avenge them, or possibly that tragedy will lead another character into an interesting arc which your next one gets to interact with - who can say. Battletech is a setting full of mortal beings where death is always one unfortunate autocannon shell away - people try their best, sometimes they rise, and sometimes they fall. No tragedy lasts forever, and there is always a new generation taking up the torch.
C: Events. Some events may have limited availability. As a general rule, try to join events that interest you and are relevant to your character - if you don't feel any particular reason to be there, maybe wait a few minutes and see if anyone else joins. If you had previously been in a limited event the prior day, give 30 minutes after events open to let other players join before jumping in.
- When limited events are posted, they will remain locked until a future time which will be listed at the time the event is posted. This allows players a chance to read over the event and decide if they want to take part before there is a scramble to get in. Some events may only be open to certain players. In all cases, the goal is for everyone to have fun, and it is better to take part than to sit out. If a character is having trouble getting into events, there may be opportunities that become available to them as time goes on.
