The word scared resonates with Bruun, and he knows scaring her too much will only make things worse.

"Look, I'm not your boss, and I'm not your big brother, but I need to know why you tried to DFA that Hetzer. Because I want to help you be a great first sergeant," he says encouragingly.

Mumbling
"Your mech was damaged and it was getting ready to fire on you, I was moving before I was thinking....they are tougher things than I had thought."

Bruun's voice softens a lot.

"Yeah, that's about what I figured..." He wipes a hand over his face. "Look... I... I can't say I had that thing under control. It was too damn tough." He shakes his head.

"But no more crazy heroics, ok? I appreciate the help. I do. But when Wurm fell..." Bruun struggles with the words. He takes a heavy breath.

“Well, we were ambushed which is no good thing. But we also all survived, which is good? It could have gone worse I feel, there were many enemies.”

Absentmindedly rubbing at her black eye.
“Although, why are they attacking us? And who were they?”

"Don't worry about the why at first," Bruun recommends. "What did you and your lance -- demi-lance -- do and did it work? Here," he says, turning to face her directly. "Like this."

"Vanguard Lance, after Major Creed said to take point, went in several directions to engage different targets. That's not good. Bruun needs to give direction faster; lance members need to stick together, even if they haven't received further direction from Bruun."

Bruun smiles, feeling a little silly for talking about himself in the third person, but the exercise is good for any new first sergeant.

But then she jumped on a Hetzer and got her arm blown off.... which is bad. Eklund needs to get better at following orders and feel more confident in her fellow pilots?”

Bruun nods encouragingly. "And did... Abs follow your plan? Maybe he did well overall, but if he did one thing... not so well, then you tell him to work on that. Not mean, just clear. Like, 'Hey, Abs. Next time don't fall down.'"

Bruun, not having heard Marik's nickname before, looks a little... jealous?
