The fast moving melee was spoiling the majority of shots now, range and cover making it difficult to land a hit, as evidenced by the ferocity of the attacks from both sides primarily destroying abandoned starport support buildings, trees, and earth.
Still, the Black Dragons as they rallied kept up the weight of fire, the entire eastern group targeting the stationary phoenix, the Dragon tearing apart trees with autocannon and LRM volleys, wile the second Jenner hit trees a few yards ahead with its own shots. The First jenner missed Felicity with both laers, but 3 SRMs corkscrewed into her mech, shaking it with detonations (hit RA+LL+CT, 2 damage each). The Spider sent two emerald beams between Kiara's legs. In turn, the Fortunate ones poured fire at the overconfident Jenner, Yuri tagging the right pod with one laser (Hit RA, 5 damage), and the Wyvern again bracketing but not striking her target as an intermittent sensor glitch or other misfortune threw off her aim. The Hussar, Falcon, and Crab all whiffed shots as well, beams all sweeping but not striking as intended. The Phoenix, stationary and patient, managed to miss with both SRM launchers, the missiles tearing up chunks of earth, but the PPC clammed into the Jenner's right Leg, cracking off armor and fusing the ankle. To the south, the Jagermech pivoted toward the Ostsol, firing a storm of shells at it, shattering off the last of the left arm armor (hit LA, 5 damage), while the return fire burned past harmlessly - Andrea unable to get a lock on teh Battlemaster having to settle for a potshot at the Jagermech. The Battlemaster took a parting shot with its PPC at the Cicada, going wide, and the Panther missed a shot at the Falcon. In revenge, however, Gillian zeroed in on the Jagermech, and at extreme range, slammed a hit into the Left weapon pylon, shearing off armor and damaging the larger gun (Hit LA, 10 damage, AC/5 Crit)
Seeing the vanguard lance pulling back, the longer ranged elements of the enemy force began wheeling to target the stalled retreat of the Fire Support Lance, as slower enemy units began catching up with the faster ones. The Sholagar roared away overhead, firing afterburners as it pursued Alexei, while the second still kept tumbling downward, the injured pilot wrestling for control of the unwieldy craft.
