Re: Event: Frozen Forest (D17, EN, Combat)

The cursing Andrea slipped away as Bruun attempted to leap to safety - he was close. So very close. The exchange of fire largely went wide, and many target locks were lost as he jumped.

One, however, was not.

A single PPC blast from the Warhammer slammed into the right torso, ripping out a massive chunk of structure and engine casing, along with fragments of the gyro. (Hit CT, 10 damage, crit engine, engine, gyro) The damage sent the mech twisting off balance, and Bruun couldn't do anything except ride it down once more. (hit LA+RL, 5+1 damage)(piloting roll to avoid injury success) A glance at his internal status readouts showed the right torso of his mech was holding on with hope and a prayer now, more than any real steel - and the engine diagram blazed red as heat began leaking out of the damaged containment field, stressing the heat sinks and sending power surges through the various systems.

A sigh on the open comms, "Last chance, hun. Stay down. I don't like killing good pilots or good mechs."

Re: Event: Frozen Forest (D17, EN, Combat)

"Mother of--" Bruun's mech crashed to the frozen ground again and all the warnings were pointing to an inescapable conclusion: no escape for him.

"Oh, Elvira, we got so damn close." He closes his eyes for a moment, and he'd be glad that no one can see him as he processes his emotions.

Finally, switching to an all-call channel: "Well, ma'am, I reckon you've got me. Hope you'll treat Elvira here well. She worked mighty hard today."

Re: Event: Frozen Forest (D17, EN, Combat)

As the Wolverine shut down, he was left with nothing but blinking warning lights on his instrument panel as they switched over to battery.

There was silence, and then the muffled thunder of mech footsteps trodding toward him, felt more than heard.

Then more silence, until someone cranked open the hatch, shining in a light, along with a blast of cold air. "Grab whatever coat you have and get out here, hands where I can see them!"

This was not a sultry voice, but a man's voice, and not a very happy one at that.

Re: Event: Frozen Forest (D17, EN, Combat)

Bruun had already started to disconnect as the mech steps approached.

"Yeah, I know the drill. I got two pistols in here, I'm leaving on the floor, so y'all be careful when you step in to search."

He figured the candor bought him the extra moment to button his Fortunate Ones jacket and try to look respectable, although he probably looked rather haggard regardless.

With a disgusted and tired huff, he got ready to exit. "Right, I'm coming out now, hands first as best I can..." Once he's gotten himself outside the mech, he keeps his hands up. God damn I hate the cold.

Outside were two mechwarriors in their own overcoats, these ones a less uniform and more scruffy.

Both had guns trained on Bruun.

They gestured to the hand of a nearby mech, held near the cockpit of the Wolverine.

"Get on."

Bruun looks at them, incredulous.

"Right," he grunts, climbing onto the freezing metal of the mech's hand. Unpleasant as it is, he keeps low in the hand to avoid the wind and potentially falling in the freezing darkness.

Re: Event: Frozen Forest (D17, EN, Combat)

The hand curled around him, forming a metal cave with a few feet of clearance in each direction... and then lifted him to one of the storage bins on the bottom of the Thunderbolt. A voice came over the speaker, saying, "Get in, unless you want to freeze on the trip back."

It seemed he'd be riding in cramped quarters if he wanted to stay warm.

"Alright..." Bruun briefly wishes he was the size of Colette or Gillian, but the sad look that crosses his face is the end of that. He squeezes in as directed, not feeling like he's in any positron to negotiate at this point.

Re: Event: Frozen Forest (D17, EN, Combat)

The hatch closed as the mech held it shut with one hand, moving with suprising speed toward... somewhere. Bruun was glad for it, stuck as he was between hot and cold and cramped to boot.

/scene.
