Watching Warriors Work (DT-1, Afternoon, Simulator Room)

Bruun, aghast at Snorri's lack of reaction, shakes his head for a moment. He puts a hand on the other man's shoulder, says quietly, "we'll talk later," and wanders over to the muted chaos of Maja's pod.

"Eh, you alright there, Eklund? I thought I heard you say something?"

Still pointing furiously

"Herr Bruun, the woman there. She has a stor buskig svans, a big tail! Tell me I am not the only one seeing this?"
Rubbing a dirty hand against her forehead
"Maybe I have been stroked by heat but I swear I see it clear as the sun at night, but nobody notices!"

[Felicity]

Her tense shoulders and tail returned. Felicity reached up to pull her hood down further. "I'm hitting the showers." She states to nobody in particular before moving to leave in a hurry.

"Calm down Eklund," he puts his hands up placatingly. "You're not crazy, you're seeing... what you're seeing..." He steps closer, to talk more quietly. "Look, I don't get it either, alright? One of the craziest things I've ever seen, sure enough, and I've seen some crazy things. But we don't wanna be the only ones who think it's weird, right?" He looks at her calmly, projecting confidence, although he'd been close to this sort of reaction himself.

"Calm down Eklund," he puts his hands up placatingly. "You're not crazy, you're seeing... what you're seeing..." He steps closer, to talk more quietly. "Look, I don't get it either, alright? One of the craziest things I've ever seen, sure enough, and I've seen some crazy things. But we don't wanna be the only ones who think it's weird, right?" He looks at her calmly, projecting confidence, although he'd been close to this sort of reaction himself.

“...Ja”
Maja calms slightly, although she doesn’t stop staring at the distance tail until it disappears.
“I have not once seen a human with tail before. Not once! And you too, you have not seen it before? Why does she have a tail? Is she a cat, or a cat person?”

Clearly Dorgan’s aura of confidence has convinced Maja he knows the cat people secrets.

Bruun looks over his shoulder at the departing tail -- it'd be staring inappropriately if no literal tail were involved. I have so many questions.

But he pulls himself back to Maja. "Look, I've only heard about such things, ok? I mean, I didn't believe people had actual tails. But... It can't be a real tail, right? I mean, it's probably like a costume thing. For luck." He's babbling a little, trying to make it make sense. "I knew a mech pilot, who said the feet of rabbits are good luck. So he had three stuffed rabbits' feet hanging in his mech. Because the number three is also lucky, he said." Bruun's demeanor suggests that he finds this explanation very acceptable, especially as it involves no catpeople of any kind.

The silence continues for a few moments before:
“Huh, that makes sense. It is just a lucky tail. There are many worlds, it makes sense one would make luck from tails.”
Smiling slightly
“Thanking you Herr Bruun, I felt most foolish not knowing about the tail.”

Bruun nods and smiles, glad to have someone else on board with his explanation. Safety in numbers.

"You should just call me Bruun. I ain't no Herr or nothing," he chuckles. "Hasn't been a Lord Bruun since... Er." He looks uncomfortable, then takes a keen interest in the ceiling of the room. "That was a long time ago," he says, clearly avoiding the topic.

“Just ‘Bruun’? Very well, if Bruun. I am sorry you are not a lord any longer. May your enemies be slain swiftly by the rise and fall of your sword.”

Maja hops full out of the pod and stretches with a few pops. Before turning to look at him
“We did well, yes? Alpha squad?”

Bruun chuckles at the misunderstanding and the wish for his enemies to be smote. I'm not... Yeah, sure, defeat my enemies. Sounds good.

"I think it went just fine, besides that thrice-damned targeting system. Ugh. Then again, that Dragon shoulda had me a couple times, so maybe it's just meant to be junk." He shakes his head in disgust. "But hey, we were all standing at the end. And you stood up to some heavy fire. Good work." She gets an approving nod from the veteran.
