Well. That was really a gorey mess. She quietly put another gaze on the neck, knowing she was not an expert on operating arteries.

"J. P.?" She asked. "May be a memento or something. Put it aside near his clothes."

The next part was stitching, something her training covered well.

"Ah... ok."

Nora put the stuff aside, and waited, not yet managing to get used to the sight.

The shot hadn't directly struck the arteries, but the impact expansion shock had caused micro-tears in the tissue... he'd suffer from internal bleeding and pain until it healed, and those muscles might never be the same.

The collapsed lung was the thing she diagnosed at an eye's bat. The chest seals were doing their job well. She used a syringe across his skin to suck the air from between his rib and his lung, not knowing the exact position of any — a shot in the dark that worked. Just to be sure, she taped the needle hole with a tape.

Karlotta then pressured both her hands together against his chest, carefully avoiding making a fracture by accident. The chest seal made sure that air escaped but could not get in again, until the pressure on his rib cage was back to normal and he breathed.

Did this work? Severely impressed. She removed with care the chest seals, now aligned with his lung, to stitch over the bullet wounds on both sides.

"Operation complete. He will need a transfusion."

It wouldn't be complicated to do the work with antigens. She took a small sample of his blood and tested to get the type. "Could you find me someone with A- blood that would donate? O- also works if you find none."

And when she returned with someone appropriate, Karlotta would make the work.

In the other part of the mech hanger bay, James had finished working the Hornet and was putting the tools away.

In the end, Alexei was left hooked up to the boy, letting the transfusion take place.

With nothing else to do, he extracted his puzzle book and mumbled over the answers until it was done.

Still unconscious, there was at least a degree of stability to his vitals that hadn't been there before.

Any questions would have to wait until morning when the sedatives wore off.

Final result: The boy is alive, but very weak. Boy gains Weakness and Permanent Injury disadvantages, but survives the night.

Karlotta gains 0.5 Fame and 0.1 Infamy for her largely successful medical intervention.
