Andrea gritted her teeth, her pride as a steel clad knight screamed at her to stand and fight. But she was a trained soldier and had her orders. "Moving to the road."

"Sir, bugging out sir," she commed over the radio. She wasn't sure why she added two sirs, to that, but didn't have time to contemplate it before firing her jump thrusters.

Re: Event: I'm a Lumbermech and I'm ok! (D2, EE)

The Fortunate Ones were starting to get clear of the kill zone, weaving toward the north. All was going well, until the Thorn attempted a sharp turn while running down the road and lost traction, sliding, as the Commando had before, into the rocky outcrop. The internal status board flickered, the shoulder and laser on the left arm showing signs of damage. (Failed piloting roll for turning while running on pavement, falls, passed piloting roll to avoid pilot injury, hit RA and LA, 2+1 damage, left shoulder+medium laser critical)

The remaining mechs were largely hidden by the woods, but the recovering Wyvern and stubborn Valkyrie remained - Bruun turning a tight corner to stay out of the Hetzer's forward arc, lining up his own shot and punch, as Maja brought her Wurm in a gentle arc overhead, landing to the east, her remaining weapons flickering affirmative target locks on the hetzer.

Again, long ranged blasts of energy and missiles rained down around the retreating company, and again they went wide, though perhaps the most surprising and alarming was the massive explosion that lifted a geyser of earth and stone a half a dozen yards away from the fallen Thorn. The Hetzer, doing it's best to line up a shot, had taken a desperate, but ultimately impossible, potshot.

In return, it was pummeled, the Laser from Goldie carving away more of the rapidly thinning right side armor (Hit RS, 5 damage), followed by all 6 of Wurm's SRMs which Maja had fired on instinct as she landed. The explosions ripped into the vehicle, shattering away the last vestiges of armor on the right side of the vehicle and savaging the engine into scrap. (Hit RR+RS+RS+FR+FR+RR, 2 damage each, crapton of engine criticals, vehicle immobile)

Then Bruun reached Goldie's hand into the broken armor, and tore the engine out completely. That vehicle wasn't going anywhere any time soon. (Hit RS, 3 damage, 1 structure remaining, vehicle engine destroyed)

---- Situation ---- Allied victory if all units withdraw from northern map edge or all hostiles destroyed.

Andrea brought the Commando up the hill and turn to face the approaching enemies. She began to back away as the fighting continued. Ready to at anything that got close. She switched to her private comms, "Andrea to Lance Leader, Vanguard lance is at the edge of the AoE. Move it old man, I hate glory hounds." She smirked and added, "At least the ones that aren't me."

"Move it out, y'all," Bruun urged as he continued to wail on the Hetzer, which had become something of a symbol for all the things he was angry and frustrated about in this moment. Tearing out the engine was nice, but wasn't quite enough...

Re: Event: I'm a Lumbermech and I'm ok! (D2, EE)

More of the allied mechs began to slip away, but a handful of shots still rang out. One Azure beam reached out and caught Marik's Thorn as he got it standing and running back toward the north, stabbing the leg and almost severing it, yet somehow, the mech structure and myomer remained intact enough to run, and run it did. (Hit RL, 8 damage)

A long range volley from the Striker combat vehicle rained down, drilling into the Valkyrie with shocking accuracy (Hit RA+LT, 1x5 damage each)

In turn, Bruun steadied his aim, firing the medium laser into the Hetzer and slagging the interior compartments (Vehicle destroyed)

--- next turn

Firing his jump jets, Bruun joined Maja as the last two mechs to leave, the chasing firestarter slipping and crashing into the hillside as it tried to pursue them on the road. A few missiles and lasers rained around them, but none connected, and they slipped away.

Final Result: Fortunate Ones victory!

Slate Eaters control the field of battle and claim any salvage.

Re: Event: I'm a Lumbermech and I'm ok! (D2, EE)

Andrea had been less fortunate when her mech fell, Maja getting off mostly with a bump on her head and a passing soreness, Andrea instead had not noticed until out of combat, but a rivet had been knocked lose which had shot through the cockpit like shrapnel, opening a nasty looking and fast bleeding, but not actually dangerous, cut into her leg.

(Injury rolls, 18 damage to Andrea, 3 to Maja, because Orokos)
