[T-2 evening, Mech Hangar, open] Getting acquainted

[Dorgan Bruun]

James chuckles. "Yes. And tales of the animals. I would love to hear your stories though. Mata is going to be a warrior someday."

Mata nods. "I have aerospace pilot and Mechwarrior blood in me. So, I'm not sure which kind yet."

"Oh, that's very impressive," Bruun says to the girl. "Those are hard jobs though, so think carefully about what you want to do, ok? I've been a mechwarrior for almost 20 years, and it ain't easy." Bruun's face shows something between pride and disgust. Don't be like me, kid. This life ain't pretty.

[Felicity]

That's a long time. Felicity took a moment to peek around her mech's leg to see which of the men speaking had said that. It was the more grizzled of the pair. That made sense.

Bruun thinks he hears something, but that's just to be expected on an old dropship. With his back to Felicity, he'll only notice her if James or Mata react.

[Snorri Tycho]

"So, is this the pilot huddle up? If so, I see a surprising lack of flasks." Snorri wipes machine grease and paint off his hands onto a rag. He's been scrubbing off some old paint and applying the Fortunate One's insignia

Bruun chuckles. "We've got a future pilot here, Snorri, so no flasks. Save it for another time," he directs, guessing the other mechwarrior has a flask on him somewhere.

James bows to the new pilot while Mata salutes him.

He chuckles too. "Mata was raised among pirates. A little drinking would not be shocking."

Mata nods. "Sometimes they would drink so much that they would fall asleep. Then, you could take their stuff and hide it or give it someone else who is sleeping so they get mad and fight each other."

[Snorri Tycho]

"Oh?" Snorri eyes the rather shapely lady in a flowy skirt and then to the child. "What horrors happened to you to make you want to join such broken people like us? Not that we aren't happy to have you...but we are kind of screwed up people "

[Felicity]

Cute and also scary. Felicity filed that away in her mental good-to-know folder. She was totally eavesdropping at this point. Even she realised and felt a little bad about it. She decided to go say hello. With care she swiped her brush on the inside of the paint can to get rid of the excess paint. The brush was then set down so she could walk over.

Halfway toward the group she checked her hat and flicked out the sides of her skirt.

"Heeeey." That was lame. Are you 10? "Erhrm, I'm Felicity. I pilot that one over there." She pointed back to her mech. "We will be working together, huh?" Felicity smiled softly, trying to be social.

Mata nods. "I will. But someone has to do the tough jobs and I'm tougher than I look."

Snorri tries to hide a laugh, but it comes out more like a snort. "Well said kid. I think that's the unofficial Mechwarrior motto right there." He reaches out to ruffle the child's hair, curious to see the reaction. If it was anything like Snorri's had been at that age, maybe they had something to work with.

He looks over as the stacked brunette came closer. Playing with the kid would make a good impression, right?
