It's a Victory, if not a party (Day 6, EN)

[Felicity]

"What's really there to celebrate? We both lost mechs, Karlotta was killed in some foolish attempt at subterfuge thanks to our contractors, some of the locals died, there's hardly any salvage and it's late." Felicity complained. She'd had a gut full. "How we even have had such bad luck is beyond me. First the sabotage bombing, then one of our security dying because this world has pirates, then a bunch of terrorists arrived to chase the Major of all people. Fortunate Ones? Tell that to my Kiara being hit by a bloody aerospace fighter." She had a quick sip of her drink as she wore a gloomy expression. "Survival's great, but this whole venture has been crap so far. We might have found some SLDF facility today, which might mean we're all rich, but at this rate someone else will arrive and take it from us. I'm just... I'm feeling pretty jaded." Felicity set down her glass. "And I'm tired."

[Gillian Chow]

Gillian raised her glass at Yuri's toast, but otherwise didn't say much. She did upgrade to a stronger drink though. The Fortunate Ones had survived battle - even earned some victories - and they ought to get paid soon. Reason enough to celebrate, even if quietly.

[Dorgan Bruun]

Maja symbolically clinks her glass against Bruun's

"Ja, it was good, very good. If all our battles could be as such I think I could grow old in this job."
Wagging a finger at him
"Although I was seeing you in the thick of it all, quite a scrum you had."

Bruun smiles a little at the reality check.

"This seems like a pretty good place to at least try," he says, nodding and glancing around the assembled company. When he looks back to find a wagging finger in his face he shrugs.

"Hey, Firehead needs to get close to get use out of her lasers," he says defensively, though not strongly because he knows she's right. "And I was trying to save Andrea's crazy ass," he mutters. And, as the honesty comes out more: "And I was getting frustrated and I wanted a kill." He doesn't like the admission, and doesn't say it loud, but he's not trying to hide it.

[Maja Eklund]

Bruun smiles a little at the reality check.

"Ach, well most of those are good reasons I think. You did good, her crazy ass is still not shot and many kills were had."
Taking a sip
"Many many kills. I only had the one mech to mech, hit him in the ammo with my laser."
She mimes with her arm
"And they are going boom, no more panther, no more ronin."

Snorri takes a long glug of his drink.

"Man. And I thought I was a gloomy drunk."

He lets out a long sigh.

" You're right to be tired. It's been a long, rough slog the past few days and I'm not going to pretend that shit didn't rain down on us. What you're feeling makes sense. But we're Merc Fee. Let me agree to everything you said"

Snorri clears his throat. "We completely wiped out an enemy with superior numbers and average tonnage without losing a single pilot. We survived their sabotage. We kept to our promise to the client, even when it was stupid and cost us dearly. And in the process, we actually reduced collateral damage and saved the majority of a civilian population. You can't buy advertising that gives you that kind of reputation, which means work. Lot's of work"

Snorri sits down next to Felicity.

" Missing Kiara?"

[Thomas Moreno]

After a time, Yuri drifted over to Thomas. "You'll want to get that looked at."

His tone was relatively flat, but he added, simply, "None of us are as good at it as Karlotta, but Nora knows a little. You may want to see her tomorrow."

"I'll do that." Thomas replied with a nod. For now though it coukd wait. It wasn't nasty enough to really need attention or a Plastiflesh patch. At least in his opinion. "It's not too bad but don't want to risk infection."

[Yuri Creed]

"Right. It doesn't honor the medic if you let yourself get a preventable infection."

Yuri's comment was dry, the sort of thing a soldier who had seen a hell of a lot of death could say with a straight face, and then he added, "I know the Infantry have taken some hits in this - if there is anything you all need, put it on my desk and I'll see if I can make it happen. I'm not an expert in your field."

[Thomas Moreno]

Thomas nodded, not seeming to mind the other man's dry comment.

"I'll see what I can figure out, honestly though there isn't too many of us attached to the Fortunate Ones so I imagine our needs are few."

"Only thing that immediately comes to mind is volunteers to escort the Echo corps folks around." He said before nodding towards the crowd of mech pilots. "Sure there is a few other things though that I'll think of."

[Felicity]

"I don't usually drink for a reason... sorry." Felicity responds at first, momentarily becoming a little more balled up and defensive.

There is a soft sigh and a nod as he points out all the positive. She couldn't deny it. She was just feeling out of sorts she supposed.

"Yea... The Valkyrie, Blondie, is nice, just no Kiara."

[Snorri Tycho]

""It is a good thing that war is so terrible, lest we grow fond of it"" Snorri recites. "Of course, the man who said it was a right bastard of a strategist, but there's some truth to it. I'm happy that I got out of it with all four limbs, and there is profit to be made, but...this wasn't a fun one"

Snorri edges a bit closer, adopting the position the two had been in a few nights earlier.

"Things were on a knife's edge for a moment, and it swung our way. That one broadside...we got very lucky"
