[T-1 Morning] Desayuno

[Felicity]

She shrugged slightly. "If we're attacked by locals then it's probably busted up Scorpions and such. We're not getting much salvage from that."

[Theodore Beker]

"That'd be perfect! We could use those ACs," he grinned and bit into his toast.

[Felicity]

For a moment Felicity was a little surprised. Then she smiled a bit, perhaps because of his enthusiasm, and nodded. "I guess. Okay."

After a few more bites she even asked him a question. "Have you been doing this a long time?" Accompanied by a wide ranging head movement indicating the entirety of the ship and mercenary life. Or maybe it just looked like she was rolling her head?

[Theodore Beker]

"A couple of years," he brushed some yolk onto another piece of toast, "My last employers took some serious casualties. I got pretty used to making wrecks work. Well, mostly."

He paused, "Speaking of which: Where did you get your mech?"

[Felicity]

"I see. I hope we don't have to endure heavy fighting. It becomes a gamble after a while." Felicity brushed her left hand with her right before having a sip of water
She looked a little nervous thinking about serious casualties.

"Oh, um." Felicity glanced up again at the unexpected question. She took a moment to gather her thoughts. "Erm, I inherited it." No elaboration upon this was immediately forthcoming.

[Theodore Beker]

"Well, guard detail is better than bandit hunting," he said with a smile, "We aren't looking for trouble."

He took a sip of coffee as he clearly was expecting a long strange answer. "Yeah, but that is an old ass machine. I had to look the thing up. I was sort of expecting more of a story than 'I inherited it'."

[Felicity]

That perked her up and she nods a good couple of times in agreement.

The perkiness died down when her answer was challenged. Well, at least he didn't think she had stolen it. "It is really, really old, yea. My family acquired it centuries and centuries ago. I didn't expect to inherit it, as it belonged to one of my brothers. He, errr... well, he died. A night attack against the buildings housing his unit. His barracks was hit by missiles. The whole building collapsed." Felicity poked at her food. "Kiara never took any damage."

[Theodore Beker]

He winced, "Yeah. I'd rather sleep in a dropship. It is easier to sleep inside a structure with some armour on it." He shoke his head.

He decided to change the subject, "Kiara, huh? That where the K in your callsign comes from?"

[Felicity]

"Same, yea."

As she cut up her bacon her hat almost appeared to move at Theodore's next question. Surely his imagination? Felicity sat up straighter. "No, uhhh, it doesn't. I... I don't really..." She fumbled for the right words.

Then she just sort of gave up. "What do you think about the other mechs we have?"

[Theodore Beker]

He raised an eyebrow as she seemed to squirm a bit but just ran with her changing topic. There *was* definitely a story behind that callsign though. "The Valkyrie, Thorn, Hussar, and Cicada seem in good working order and make for a solid recon in force lance. Might cost the boss a bit in keeping the lrms loaded but that isn't my problem. The Stinger, Locust and Hornet should make for good back ups in case of repairs for it," he stuffed the now yolkless egg into his mouth, "Urbie will be good for defending the camp so I almost wish we had two for a change while the Commando is a nasty little flanker. Then comes the bigger ones, the Wyvern is a pretty looking sniper, your Phoenix is a scrappier sniper and then the boss's Dragon can smash anything smaller than it easy enough. Hopefully it showing up will make low level pirates fuck off rather than risk getting bulldozed."
