"I think your dad is right. Fighting all the time isn't good. I reckon everybody needs at least one hobby... although I couldn't tell you what mine is. Some holovids, games on my vidphone... just random things to kill time between mercenary stuff. Which -- it's good to learn this early -- whether you're a mercenary or a regular soldier, most of your time ain't spent in battle. Training, patrolling, just going from one place to another trying to be in the right place for a battle -- it ends up you ain't in battle all that much, really." Bruun nods knowingly. "Doesn't mean y'ain't in danger a good chunk of the time, but actual battle like we're getting ready for now... That don't come up too often."

Mata nods, soaking in the mechwarrior's wisdom. "I understand. When we were with the pirates, I always had to be careful. That's why kept all of toys with me in the beginning. Then, I realized you were good people, so I could leave some in my room. But that doesn't mean outside people or spies can't be here. So, we have to be careful and watch out for each other." She gives him a thumbs up which apparently isn't an insult here. "I have your back."

Bruun smiles at the youngster.

"Thanks Mata. I reckon I got yours too." And he matches her gesture.

"Anything else you wanna know before I saddle up? This lady and I have some work to do." He walks over to pat the Firefly's leg.

"No. I should let you get back to work. See you later." Mata waves and after Brunn's response goes back to her toys.

Bruun waves back, smiling at the kid as she goes back to lurking in the hangar. Looking up at the Firefly, he says solemnly, "We really have to figure out this name thing."
