[T-1 Morning] Desayuno

[Felicity]

She grinned, flashing pearly white teeth. "Don't jinx us now."

[Theodore Beker]

"Heh, I can't win," he laughs, "You are not what I was expecting for the pilot of that thing."

[Felicity]

Felicity tilts her head to the left and then the right after a pause, giving Theodore a curious look. "I've seen big guys tightly squeezed into Locusts, and dainty officers in assault mechs. What were you expecting looking at my Phoenix?"

[Theodore Beker]

"Hrrrm," sipped on his coffee as he thought, "Likely some noble too vain not to flaunt how old money they are by piloting a rare old mech but too broke to not be tempted to take it out with a mercenary unit. In short I was expecting a bit of moustache twirling. Honestly this is preferable."

[Felicity]

The impression stung somehow. Is that how everyone sees it? Felicity shifted uncomfortably as she finished off her toast. She did at least give a little head bop as Theodore expressed a positive sentiment. "Well, that's something."

[Theodore Beker]

He frowned into his coffee. That was probably a good description of her dead brother right there.

"So... What brought you to being a merc anyways?"

[Felicity]

"Ehhm, well, I mean I had inherited a working war machine. That opened up options. I studied so I could use it and then I served for a while. It ended up being just garrison duty for year after year, so I left and signed on with a Mercenary Company that was hiring. You now know how that ended up." She pushed away her empty plates and picked up her glass of water. "How about you?"

[Theodore Beker]

"Someone convinced me there was better money in it than being a lifer in the Guard," he shrugged, "And sometimes? Probably more for mechwarriors. Either way it has been more exciting than fixing street racers back home and a lot more than polishing up ancestral parade pieces to get the brass in good with the local lord."

[Felicity]

"You'd have hated the Militia." Felicity blurts out before she gritted her teeth. Didn't want to say that. She pressed on. "I mean, polishing up ancestral parade mechs of officers is one thing, but polishing beat up and neglected mechs of nobody's... that's worse, right?"

[Theodore Beker]

"So long as they are actually getting used," he shrugged, "I mean some secure worlds have militias just to make the governor look good so... I guess. Pay'd probably be crap though. So you some militia no body then?"
