Event: Curiosity Killed The - (D1, LE, Dropship Perimeter)

Situation: Night came early on Illium, and by 8pm the planet was coated in inky darkness. In this darkness the crew and passengers of the grounded dropship were keeping watch. Things had been mostly quiet all day, but now, in the ending hours of evening a sudden cry broke out. "Hey! You! What are you doing there- Freeze! I said Freeze!"

A gunshot rang out in the darkness, and then silence, broken by a muffled sobbing and gasping.

Moments later, the radio for the sentries lit up with questions, but was squelched as one sentry called directly to command. "Send the Commander, I've shot an Intruder. It's a kid. I don't know if he's gonna make it."

Warning: This is a multi-step RP event and it is potentially damaging to diplomatic relations with the local populace and potentially could have both short and long term dangers.

Participants: In the first stage one additional armed Mercenary and one volunteer medic. Additional participants may be able to join later in the event.

Stage 1: Don't give up on me! --- rules after players join - recommended skills include investigation and combat medicine.

She was pretty immerse on her noteputer when she heard a shot. A shot — she knew the sound... Less from battle, more from training — a shot ringed true still.

Karlotta put on her vest and checked over her personal rifle. It was still where she put it. Then she turned the radio, waiting to hear something.

"Go ahead."

The weapon was prepared. All was good. The ammunition was there. What she had to do now was to wait for orders, and reply to the call for a doctor on the communication kit. "Wilco."

And they arrived before she was fully ready — but a medic was needed now, as they always were, and her tools (and patches) were always on the most convenient location. She had only to put the rifle on her belt and grab the kit by the handle to leave the bedroom ready.

"Clear."

And she clipped the device to where it belonged — on herself.

Bruun had been standing outside the dropship, looking up into the dark sky, when there started to be a commotion. It was not a time he liked to be bothered. Hellfire, on the first damn day?

Of course, when he overheard that some kid was hurt, he was cursing and running fast and it wasn't because he felt inconvenienced. The rank insignia on his vest, the idea that he might be doing his job right now, was far from his mind.

The pair of them arrived on a scene straight out of a nightmare.

A teenage boy was curled in the fetal position, blood splattered on his plaid tunic, gasping and crying, and a soldier was standing near by, weapon still held at the ready, staring out into the darkness.

Trained as she was, Karlotta could see that she didn't have long to stabilize the kid, as the sentry had proven that, whatever else he was, he was a good shot.

As Bruun and Karlotta approached, the Sentry said, in a dazed sort of way, "I saw him running, he wouldn't stop. I told him to stop. I think he wasn't alone, I heard something, I swear I heard something..."


---- Situation ---

The teen needs immediate medical attention to stop the bleeding and stabilize him so that a surgery can be attempted. In order to survive to the next stage, the medic needs to heal at least 10 wounds on the teen in two rounds. They may use whatever equipment and techniques they have.

The guard isn't giving a good report of what happened, but still seems alert. Someone needs to try and get a better answer, or see for themselves. There are two rounds, during that time, any character not performing a medtech check can either attempt to snap the guard out of it, or look for themselves toward the perimeter. Snapping the guard out of it requires Interrogation/Willpower at a TN of 15, and taking a look requires an Investigation/Perception at TN 20.

She met a soldier under the corridor. Her escort, assumably. She gave her a nod as they proceeded to the scene. Brunn could choose what he would do, but she did not have the luxury of time and her decision was premade. Kneeling at the side of the boy, she took a piece of gauze, cleaning around in a hurry to see clearly where the wound was. She took then a piece of plastic, sealing it around the wound so it would not suck air. "Help is here. Don't move."

The boy tried to slap her hands away, but was too weak and shocked to do more than twitch pathetically.

The first gunshot sealed, but the second was still bleeding, and bleeding a lot. The soldier had impeccable target placement, and had hit a lung, and it looked like also damaged a major artery. It would take quick surgical work to keep the boy alive.

Bruun immediately knows there's nothing that he can do for the kid -- Oh, damn...

With a huff of disgust at the soldier, who seems to have as much experience shooting people as the wounded kid, Bruun puts his own eyes to work. Initially, he's baffled by the area, the wall of light from the camp perimeter... But Bruun's a lucky sort, who's figured out worse situations than this -- or so he tells himself, as he remains thoroughly baffled about what's happened.

So far, he hasn't made any sense of the situation, and the soldier is still trying to express his concerns.

On board the Calico, Yuri Creed was riding an elevator into the mech bay now, finger holding down the 'door open' button.

She also patches the other, passing over to his other side to check for exit holes and patching them as well. As far she knew, she was the most competent medic here, and those crests were little better than band-aids.

"Stabilized. Collapsed lung, needs surgery." She moved his limbs aside to put him in the default recovery position. She kept her focus on him, trusting that Brunn would be looking around.

Frustrated and not shy about his language showing it, Bruun grabs the whimpering soldier by the collar and drags him away from Karlotta's frantic work.
