Thomas wasn't the strongest, he had a good bit of stamina though.

After nearly half an hour of digging mud, they'd gotten several feet in, and one of the shovels struck metal with a hollow gong sound.

Scraping, dragging, and digging... and they found a hatch in the ground. Metal. Locked. Rusty.

The Doc kneels in the mud and examines the lock itself to see how hard it will be to get through.

"Right, I do have a tool for this," he reached into his pack and brought out his cutting tool, "Give me a moment."

At least his Evo suit helped with the rain. Thomas rolled his shoulders as he looked at the locked entrance to the underground. This was a place that might have defense of some sort, and his hand moved to his side arm as he waited for the to cut the lock.

And Karlotta looked like a wet dog. "Will it work on this water? There's a puddle above it already."

A plasma torch could handle a little rain, if Theo wanted to try.

"Let's see. I mean better than trying to hack through it with a pick." He sparked the torch and went to work.

The work didn't take long, the lock broke in less than a minute, and then a bit of effort wrenched it open.

Rain trickled down inside, so they might want to consider closing the hatch behind them. The room was surprisingly clean... and the air quite stale. It seemed the underground room had been sealed, and those seals hadn't broken. A second hatch waited at the bottom of a spiral stairway, also heavy metal, with a locking wheel, but this one had no lock.
