Felicity would help out when called to, but otherwise she kept watch to ensure everyone was safe to work.

Re: D3-EA - Crash of the Titans

The flashback - or a delusion - turned him stupefied for a moment, blinking and unmoving. Was it even purposeful to have a life after life? He was a stalwart atheist, he didn't believe in any supernatural plan for himself, any destiny. There were just lingering thoughts, randomised at tubulins of his neurons, that might or might not produce something that would last for future generations to use. But then there was this lostec, a fine creation of human ingenuity from an age past, that was nevertheless sharing the fate of Ozymandias' epitaph. Worse, it would probably be sacrilegiously stripped of all remaining grace of its initial integrity, and repurposed. Would he not do well dying in space, repurposing himself for whatever his atoms could be used onward? The grip of the passing time, ticking, caught him in the moment of silence in which he was testing his own willingness to seek higher entropy.

That moment passed. Sighing, he leaned over, looking for serial numbers or any other informative etches.

Re: D3-EA - Crash of the Titans

Only another hint came a faint whisper of an idea.

Of a long jump which would lead... something... an... army?...

Further than any jumpship had gone before.

Leaping past all obstacles to a goal others desperately hoped to reach.

Then even that had receeded into memory, though no longer forgotten.

Reinhardt over sees the loading of what they can while Jan checks the engines, "I am almost tempted to see if we can tow the hulk somewhere it could be useful. The Sherriff might be able to use the empty remains as a bunker or office if it was closer to town."

Re: D3-EA - Crash of the Titans

The massive hulk almost seemed to dare them to try.

It might have been largely corroded, but it still weighed more than all their vehicles and mechs put together. The Calico would have a hard time shifting it, and the Calico was a bigger ship.

".... The thing has 4 mechbays, crew quarters for 15 people, and is over 60 meters long. Sir," he said thinking he had done a pretty good job remembering that the doctor was part of the crew that was paying the bills.

"You think we could drag it 20 feet or so out of the water at least? " He rubs his shoulder, "I would hate for the saltwater to do more damage to it if we could prevent it, it seems...disrespectful."

The laws of physics were unmoved.

Like the Dropship was likely to be.

Re: D3-EA - Crash of the Titans

The memory disturbed him. Or rather - its implications for who he had been. The science of it was indeed that parts could be moved but not the whole thing unless its intrinsic combustion or equivalent externally mounted thrusters were available. Well, an earthquake or a tsunami might do the job too. Neither seemed too plausible at the moment.

He looked across the engine room with less sentiment and more pragmatism; what of utility was there?

Re: D3-EA - Crash of the Titans

From a practical standpoint, the interior of the engine contained the only salvagable parts. It would take a crew, and the crawler, several hours, but it would be possible to get the shielded thrust components that were necessary for fine control and manipulation of what was effectively a vent for for a fusion detonation. These could take the process of repairing the Calico forward substantially - it would provide pre-treated and assembled parts for components that normally required weeks of work to prepare.
