"My bet is that there is some security system that locks the elevator when it is triggered. So people try to force the door to escape. I suggest making an escape route first."

She looked around for scratches in the walls.

"Don't forget on the other side of that dark creepy room should be emergency doors that only open from this side. Best choice is to clear the room, secure those doors, and then we can check the equipment."

There were bullet holes through equipment, on the far walls near the doors.

The people that had died had died violently, if the bloodstains, faded and dark, were any indication.

"Down an elevator or out the emergency exit are about our only escape routes. So its not like we are drowned for options."

He glanced towards the other. "I'll move forward, someone check the other elevators just in case." With that he'd move into the room unless stopped. His eyes open for anything out of place.

"The system is fuzilation-based, as it appears. Lots of bullet holes around. Since this elevator was ground floor, I assume that whoever escaped before did so by riding it. The elevator shouldn't be easy to reach, though, looking at how many people chose the doors. Or maybe they died exactly because they chose the doors, since the skeletons are all pilled on it. Doctor, can you work on trying to disable the door-closing circuit of this wagon whilst we check around, just to be sure?"

Dr. Reinhardt takes a moment to do his best to make it so the elevators wont close automatically, even if that means taping a paperclip to the sensor.

As soon as Thomas turned the corner, Kamaitachi went the other way.

Almost immediately, things started to happen.

Gunfire burst from the far side of the room, furthest from the security doors, echoing off the elevator shaft with a frightening, but impotent, rattling. The Yokai Infantrywoman was less lucky, immediately jerking as a bullet tore through her left bicep. Spinning with the blow, she rolled into cover, gasping in pain and surprise.

Thomas, the 2nd to move, had a moment to realize that something or someone was shooting from the far end of the room, and had to choose where to go, and fast.
