Youngest Scion of the DeTroyes family of Kestrel, Andrea does not strike one as the typical mercenary fodder. Indeed she has not been one all that long, having previously served in the 17th New Avalon Hussars RCT of the regular FedSuns army. Proud to a fault and utterly inexperienced, Andrea has taken to the mercenary life in a personal quest for honor and glory. As one might expect the noble woman is a bit haughty in attitude. At least she seems to have some skills at mech combat. She also tends to carry a sword into the cockpit.

Andrea tends to favor fashionable business casual attire. Which means she wears the necktie loose. Over that the mechwarrior favors a padded jacket that is not out of fashion...but clearly is more padded then necessary for just staying warm.

Dr. Reinhardt was until recently an associate professor at the University of Tharkad. He does not seem to be overly excited about the prospect of coming out to the middle of no where on a research expedition. He is definitely not prepared for the rigors of frontier life, preferring the dusty corridors of academia to the wild landscape of a bombed out world.

James is a quiet, reserved man. He joined the company largely out of desperation. Having spent the last ten years as a slave, he lacked options. The Fortunate Ones was the first one that allowed him to bring his daughter. Now, he is here simply trying to do his job and raise his daughter the best he can.

Mata is shy at first, but warms up quickly to people. People here are nicer than the pirates, but she doesn't want to push it. Her dad wants her to be a mechwarrior. He said her mom and genetic dad were warriors. So, she should be to. She's not so sure, but she will try if it makes him happy.

A very recent addition to the mercenary company. Rather than approach the company herself to sign up, she was apparently recruited by its commander instead. Her accent makes it obvious she's from Rasalhague; and what little of her personality the others in the company may have been exposed to thus far gives the impression she isn't entirely working with a full deck of cards at times. Still, she seems to know her way around a mech well enough to suggest she has actual combat experience.

Snorri is of Rasalhague descent, but from his tattoos, slang, tactics and the Combine manufactured Hussar he brings with him, it's fairly common knowledge that he spent time in the Draconis military. Partially from that, and partially from a habit to booze and chase anything in a skirt, he's picked up a bit of a bad reputation. Joining the Fortunate ones has been a match made of necessity: Without any real skills outside of the military, and coming with a dubious mech without provenance, the call of the Fortunate Ones for bodeis and machinery found both sides equally desperate.

A mechwarrior from an odd periphery planet, his contract notes that his contract was not negotiated by himself, but a MoHea of Ishtal, whatever that means. It appears to be his first time in space, at least from how he talks and how he acts. He often dresses with his midrif exposed, and appears perfectly comfortable in his skin, at least.

Even as the Free Rasalhague Republic rejoices at its newfound freedom its people mourn the cost of the wars that brought about its independence.
Maja's parents were camp followers of the 'Vigilant Chorus' mercenary band that operated around the then Rasalhague sector before its freedom. The couple followed the company around performing odd jobs as camp follower. 15 years ago they were killed during a bombing run on the company's then barracks during a protracted skirmish on a backwater world.

Maja's second family, the Vigilant Chorus themselves perished much more recently fighting the ronin remnants that refused to abandon the sector even after the end of the most recent succession war.
The company made the mistake of allowing the location of their onworld base to leak and were summarily wiped out almost to a man by the vengeful ronin response.

Maja was no mechwarrior but given the sheer casualties and the effective end of the band she hopped in one of the few surviving mechs albeit damaged mechs and got out of there, managing to hide herself and the machine from subsequent patrols until the combat died down. Could she have saved some members of the band if she'd been willing to risk herself? Maybe, it's something she reflects on from time to time, usually with a grimace on her face.

With almost nothing to her name except one battered mech she enrolled in the Fortunate Suns with no greater calls than making some bills and maybe understanding her newly acquired mech.

Fiercely protective of the machine and distrustful of people at the best of times it is taking her a while to warm up to her new companions.....

Dorgan Bruun, at 36, is simultaneously a hardened veteran as a mechwarrior and also somewhat a child who never fully grew up. He's spent years in and out of conflicts at various levels, including occasional mercenary work outside a mech -- which he finds demeaning and only does as a last resort.

Born in the Free Worlds League to a respected but largely unknown middle-nobility family, he had the mixed fortune to lose his father at age 10, with his mother quickly remarrying into a wealthier family with her children. The expanded educational opportunities saw Dorgan training as a respectable mech pilot by 16 and, motivated to get away from the family that he really never wanted to be a part of, he started winding his way in and out of various mercenary companies and other work the day he turned 18.

In almost 20 years of hard, dangerous work, he's picked up a story for every occasion, usually about him saving someone's ass, or having to save his own ass when someone screwed up.

Looking a little more weathered and gray than he should for his age, it's Bruun's behavior that is more noticeable. He has a strong opinion about most things, little internal filter to keep him from sharing what he thinks, and a fairly indomitable sense of self importance. On a bad day, he's insufferable. But on a good day, he's protective of anyone who deserves it -- even if only a little -- and will knock the block off of anyone setting a bad example for kids. He doesn't smoke (quit), drinks coffee only once a day, drinks alcohol only sparingly, and avoids taking anything mind-altering.

It's maybe most apt to say that, for Dorgan Bruun, the world may be shit, and things may be shit for him, but nobody gets to be shitty to kids or animals.
