[D4, EE, simulators, closed] Never enough

As Maja makes her move, Bruun opens up with everything he has--which was apparently not much at that particular range. Then the volley from Wurm connects.

"Mother of!" Bruun gets tossed around in his simulator unpleasantly, and by the time the simulator settles down, he sees a small army of damage indicators flashing. Shocked, his first words are, "You gotta be kidding me..."

After a time, he adds, "Well, congratulations, Stitches. My new Firefly don't like you any, but that was a pretty slick maneuver," he admits, a little grudgingly.

"Uh, you wanna hop out for a water break? I can't reset everything from in here," he says, starting the process of exiting his simulator.

There's the distant sound of a hatch opening as Maja disconnects herself and sticks a head out the entrance into the simulator with the slightest of grins.

Bruun stretches, sees the faint grin, and says with some annoyance, "You can grin bigger than that. Come on, I ain't happy but you got me good," he says, grumpy but maybe also a little proud.

The simulator hadn't gotten too stuffy in their brief encounter, but there's still a slight glisten of sweat on the man. He takes a swig of water.

Bruun grimaces and looks down at his water bottle.

"No. I reckon I need to spend some time with her in person, not just with the simulator. But I haven't gotten to it yet." Bruun looks incredibly guilty, avoiding eye contact now that this is the topic.

“Are you feeling the guilt because you are seeing another mech behind the Blondie?”

Bruun looks up, confused about the cat thing, but at mention of Blondie he sighs and nods.

"More armor, more firepower... A Firefly is a stronger mech for taking on whatever badness shows up tomorrow. And I gotta do this job, use the best tools we have. But Blondie's Blondie. We had a good thing going. And I reckon maybe I shoulda stuck with her."

“I imagine it is not easy. She is your partner but... if this firefly can be protecting more people, then maybe Blondie will not mind? She is still there, you do not have to make the decision forever.”

"I reckon if I go getting hurt in the Firefly, Blondie's never gonna forgive me. Might not want me back anyway, seeing as... I was kinda distracted when I went to tell her last night." Bruun looks embarrassed, although it isn't clear why.
