He sends a side eye over to Karlotta. "You're pretty blunt when you're drunk. For now, we are running on company mechs. Maybe we can find our old ones on the field, or reclaim them if the enemy salvaged them. Maybe"

"Sand wine is a common delicacy back home among the Warrior class, where we'd use our off time from war working our regimental fields to help supplement rations and help supplement bad harvests. Often with the spares we'd make vegetable slough and sand wine to celebrate our recent victories and lament our recently fallen."

As things carried on in the small group, Bruun left the makeshift bar for a time to follow up on the exchange of looks with Andrea. He joined her over to one side -- hardly private, but not shouting over others' conversations -- with great trepidation, given the previous day's encounter.

"Hey Andrea," he said pleasantly enough. "I just wanted to say congratulations. You had a hell of a good day today. With, uh, Olivier was it?" He smiled, looking like someone who hadn't been yelling at her 24 hours before.
