It was ordered destroyed when Amaris forces assaulted the world but the explosives never went off, the sabotage team died in the space port control tower before they could launch. The defenses appear to be offline, or else we didn't get close enough to trigger them, there is also a very large, very extensive, very active mine field around the base, it will take a while to clear, but it means there is a good chance that no one has been inside for three hundred years or so. "

"The Star League seemed to have quite an interest on this small of a planet. How many things from that era we have found already?"

"Illium was the personal vacation world of the Amaris family, rulers of the Rim World Republic before the founding of the Star League. It was very famous in the time of the league as a beautiful vacation spot. The topless towers of Troy were considered one of the wonders of the galaxy. Given that the Amaris family was later one of the most powerful families in the star league right up until its dissolution, I do not find it surprising that several military assets were assigned here. Sometime during the first succession war the planet was nuked back to the stone age and everything of worth believed destroyed. At the time the type of salvage we have found here, a few beat up mechs, a crashed drop ship, a mothballed shuttle, wouldn't have been worth the trip to pick them up. Now a days they are much more valuable. I will say that the base in Limbo is the exception, I have to assume the invading forces either didn't know it existed or thought it was destroyed"

"That's pretty amazing. When we've dealt with the Dragons I hope everyone can get to see it." Felicity was cautiously enthused.

"Oh, so this place was something, and a rather big something. Not many people know of this, I guess? Or did they try..." She remembers the Starport. "...And fail?"

"Whenever something big has been discovered like this it usually becomes major news. If anyone did know they must have failed to do anything about it." Felicity decides.

[Dr. Reinhardt]

"It was a big something, then it got destroyed, then it got forgotten for about 3 centuries" He nods, " Miss Winters had some good instincts and information to bring us here, where everyone thought nothing was left, a place that was nothing but a footnote in history"

[Karlotta Roth]

"Good scientists, good scientists." She replied. "It will take quite some time to defuse everything. Is someone here a specialist on this kind of thing?"

"I am an expert on demolitions, though more on the excavation side, part of the whole Geology and Archeology shtick, I think I may be the closest thing, outside of our military escort, to a specialist in the subject"
