She chuckles a little. "Hangover and frozen to my bones, but I'm still good old Lotta. Seems like I'm looking tired an awful lot lately. People asked me the same two or four days ago. Anyway, that's normal on mourning that I can remember. The feeling nothing part. You know, sometimes people get a wound so bad that their nerves don't send the pain response to their brain, so they feel nothing. Very common with stab wounds like shots. Guess it's the emotional equivalent. A trainwreck so heavy you end up not feeling anything."

[Samuel Levi]

"I guess."

He quirked his head. "So you think I will start to feel pain. I'm not sure I want to."

[Karlotta Roth]

"It's hard, but you only recover if you go through it. You may as well skip completely the harsh guilt stage."
She takes the blanket out some as if beginning to feel warmth again.
"I don't think that you can ever stop feeling pain, actually. Only learn how to cope with it. How to avoid thinking about it and knowing what to do if you do. I once met a guy in the military who had lost his son. Little lad got some disease from another planet the father was asymptomatic to. He still cried midway telling the story, even after seven years."
Her eyes focused on him again. "Anyway. Bad notice to give in that freezing cold, but today is theoretically the day your stitches need to be removed."

[Samuel Levi]

"I see."

Samuel frowned faintly. "I suppose we might as well. I don't mind the cold - Illium is always cold."

[Karlotta Roth]

"Robinson is mostly hot. That's like taking a punch for me." She says, jumping from her crate with permission and sitting near him.
"It won't hurt." It would, a little.

[Samuel Levi]

"That's fine."

He took off his shirt, so she could work.

[Karlotta Roth]

"You know, I'm not sure why I thought that trying plastiflesh again would be a good idea, maybe because the hole was somewhat bigger, but I'm glad I did. Otherwise I would have to throw you into anesthesia and undo stitches on your lungs as well." She said as she set free the black line with a pair of scissors and cold hands. "Ah, I remembered. I was afraid that my bottle wouldn't last too long if I did. Though I still haven't anesthetized someone ever since."

[Samuel Levi]

He didn't entirely follow, so he just nodded. "Well... I appreciate your work, Doctor Roth. I don't know how I'll pay you back, but I'll find a way eventually."

[Karlotta Roth]

"Don't worry with it. Just doing my job." She smiles, handing him back his clothes after she removed the stitches. Samuel still looked very taken aback, though, how to help? "Anyway, if you like puzzles, you may like a game I have on my noteputer."

[Samuel Levi]

"I guess. I can try it."

He examined the wounds. "Thanks for the help, it seems a lot better already."

Indeed, it was a surprisingly fast recovery.
