Gotta eat (D6 LM Mess)

[Felicity]

Sidestep, sidestep, sidestep. Felicity was picking out things to add to her tray for breakfast. She had more appetite than the prior evening, but she was being picky. It took her a little while to settle on what to eat. Grabbing her tray, she went to find a booth she could eat in. Even after a lonely morning she still chose one of the booths at the back to slip into. She wasn't feeling especially sociable.

[Thomas Moreno]

"Care for any company?" Thomas asked, as he spotted felicity at a booth and made his way over. His own breakfast tray seemed a fairly standard assortment, oatmeal, a few fruits, and a few pieces of bacon. Maybe not exactly what one might expect from a male soldier, but to each their own.

[Felicity]

Hers was mostly bread and various meats, cheeses and spreads. She too had some bacon however.

Felicity looked up and hesitates for a moment. Then she nods gently and gestured to the other side of the booth. "Eehm, ok. Thomas, si? Morning."

[Thomas Moreno]

"Morning." He replied as he settled in across from her. "And yeah, you got it, Felicity." He confirmed.

"Having a decent morning so far?" The soldier asked as he dug into his meal.

[Felicity]

She assumed he didn't know. "Lost my mech yesterday. Aerospace fighter crashed into it from behind, of all things. The Major shot it down and..." She lets out a long sigh.

"I've had better." She states dryly. This close he could likely spot the redness around her eyes.

Felicity had some of her bread, with some meat slices over the top, without much enjoyment. She gestured to Thomas to ask him about his own morning, trying to still be somewhat cordial.

[Thomas Moreno]

"Must be rough losing a mech." Thomas wasn't sure but he knew in some outfits that would get you grounded permanetly. Still it was kind a vague thing to him what that felt like exactly. If he was hit by a crashign place he'd just be a smear. "Kinda like losing a friend I imagine." He offered after a few moments.

Taking a bite of his oatmeal he shrugged. "Well, Iwasn't shot too badly yesterday so mostly I'm in tip top condition. From what I hear that may change by the end of the day but I'm taking things in stride."

[Felicity]

"Yea... she was with my family for centuries." Her tone was awfully gloomy as she said this.

Still, she managed to look up to catch his eye. "Try to be careful. I always think you... eehm, that infantry take too many risks."

[Thomas Moreno]

"That's a big loss." Thomas replied respectfully. Her family would be devestated by the loss of a heirloom like that, it'd make going home pretty hard on here he imagined.

"Risks part of the job, but I'll be careful." He replied with an easy smile. "It helps that i'm tougher then I look." He added with a grin. "Don't want to offere anyone too much extra work though, or worry all you mech pilots too much." The young man finished with a playful wink.

[Felicity]

"Good. We have our own worries, si?" She smiled back ever so slightly.

In between eating she paused to ask a question. "So, why did you join us anyway, instead of a larger Company with a dedicated infantry section?"

[Thomas Moreno]

"I'm sure you do." He agreed with a smirk.

"As for joining? IT seemed the best option of the time, and this team does need infantry, not just hired hands to act the part."

"Mechs are nice and all, but there are some things they just can't do."
