Re: [D4, EE, simulators, closed] Never enough

Bruun looks at Maja a little strangely, not having expected the transition she made.

"Ah, wait a minute. Is this the kind of talk that should happen with drinking? I mean..." he chuckles. "I've been doing this a long time, so there's a lot I could say about this," he says, trying to gauge whether she really wants to talk about this now.

"I am just thinking, yes. Your talk of wanting to be with the pancake woman reminds me of family and home. These are hard things to have as a pilot, but things I may want some day. I am not sure if drinking would help."
She scratches her chin
"Though it might I suppose."

"Hmm." Bruun nods. "Well, I reckon we have two parts of a conversation: the short version, and the long version. Long version requires drinking," he says seriously.

"For now, the short version." He takes a drink of water. "I reckon everybody's different, and you can put things in your future that you want to be there. Few people stay mercenaries for very long. One way or another, most people move on." He pauses for a somber moment, not saying what 'moving on' means in a lot of cases.

"But there's plenty of stories of folks making a good haul and cashing out, using that money to start 'a new life.'" Bruun looks a little wishful, but only for a moment. "Some of those are true, I'm sure, but some of them also end up with 'Ain't no money left, so it's merc time again.'"

((Thinking to end scene, since I'm starting to worry about time warping, and start a new thread D16 for the long conversation?))

Conversation fades to things that won't destroy time/space

((Works for me :-) ))
