"Didn't we find a Crab at the gates? We might be able to use some of it's spare parts for this one if needed. Should we check to see what condition they are in?"

"Need? No. But you may want to see this. These mechs look magnificent."

James keeping his eye on the prize went to check out the computers. They probably wouldn't work, but just in case.

"Professor Novak, do you think you can look at the Leopards engine and flight system, it won't fly again but it might have useful parts to fix the Callico"

"I guess." Jan was not too interested in mechs, but with the engines... He barely concealed excitement, what could be discerned by his vigorous gait as he was heading toward wherever the engine room could be.

Re: D3-EA - Crash of the Titans

The main engines themselves were at the back of the ship, and while the power plant was long destroyed by salt water, it might be possible that those massive engines could still contain useful component parts. Leopard and Union engines were different beasts, but someone who knew the forces involved might be able to math out which parts were most useful and cross-compatible.

Reinhardt starts poking around inside the ship looking for any interesting odds and ends, weapon lockers, spare parts, whatever he can find.

Oh, space propulsion, how I adore thee. Jan was onto it, studying the design before attempting any cannibalism. Touching the chassis... as if looking for memories?

Theo went to go inspect the mechs for tell tale signs of superior systems and equipment. A glance here and there to places where maybe spare parts could be tucked?

Re: D3-EA - Crash of the Titans

The storerooms were, sadly, flooded, meaning anything inside those was likely gone, as were most of the crew quarters.

There was, at least, still some crash netting tangled about the hangar, and crates had been caught in that, so once that was sorted they'd know what was in it.

The mechs looked like they could probably be brought online - they hadn't lost hull integrity so their internals should be well preserved... if loaded with extremely stale fuel - luckily fusion reactants didn't really 'go bad' so much as 'slightly stabilize' which wasn't really an issue.

The trick would be getting past the pilot command code locks - that would probably require a full system reset, and that would either need the engineer's main console for the hangar, or an extensive layover at the Calico being re-programmed.

Unless, of course, they hadn't actually been paired with a pilot before the crash.

It would be a relatively simple, if tedious, matter to load up the mechs and take them back. As for the engines... those were too big to easily move, but Jan was feeling drawn to them all the same. There was something familiar about the configuration... the feeling of working on a starship drive.
